Are these actually Goombas?[edit]
Similar to the last time I brought up a discussion like this, it sounds like a silly question at first.
After all... the name, their general appearance, their names in other languages, their role as a weak early game enemy... They're all pretty general traits for a Goomba variant.
But on the other hand, I'm unsure whether we should be considering these things direct Goomba variants, since their design doesn't quite line up with traditional Goomabs. If anything, the more closely resemble Galoombas, which themselves are not currently considered direct variants of Goombas, despite their similar names and functions. It might just be a case of similarly-named enemies filling the same role, like Beanies or Seedles.
I don't know of any profiles for these enemies which directly prove/disprove this point, (unlike a similar question regarding Chuboombas.) So I will pose this question here in case anyone has any thoughts to contribute to the matter. Wandering Poplin (talk) 20:19, January 14, 2026 (EST)
