It does sound like a silly question, since... there's the name, their general appearance, and their roles as weak, early game enemies for Bowser. It's all pretty typical for Goomba variants. But on the other hand, the in-game profiles for Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey merely state that they are "rotund Minions resembling Goombas." And it wouldn't be the last time the series would use Minions resembling other pre-existing characters while also claiming they aren't related to said characters. (I haven't checked what Prima Guides said about them in the original release though.) Wandering Poplin (talk) 12:11, January 1, 2026 (EST)
- Now I've double-checked the Prima guide for the game and... it doesn't seem to call them anything other than "Chuboombas." Seemingly no mention of their relation (or lack thereof) to normal Goombas whatsoever. Which means the only official profile for them (That I could find, that is) is the one from Bowser Jr's Journey which only states they "resemble" Goombas, rather than a direct variant of them.
