Considering how Fire Breath covers both the Smash Bros. move and general instances of Bowser doing similar things, should this page be expanded to include other times Bowser and other members of his species (like the Koopalings) perform a "heavy drop" move, be it one that breaks the ground, causes shockwaves, or simply used as a stomp attack? Since this seems to be based on Bowser's floor-slam in Super Mario Bros. 3. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 02:43, October 3, 2024 (EDT)

Three pages about the same topic (expanding Smash Bros. Bowser moves coverage) seems like it'll split the resulting conversation thin. But regardless: I disagree. The problem is Ground Pound. Bowser does use things named Ground Pound, with the same posing as this attack, and presumably they shouldn't go on this article because there is an article for Ground Pounds. So it's a wonky impasse, because there is no line between Ground Pound and Bowser Bomb aside from name. (I don't think the line is shockwaves because those are just a platforming game staple of stomp attacks. A staple influenced by Mario? Possibly, but hard to tell that trend from this special move.) They're different enough it made sense to make one for each. But anyways, this page is notable in that regard because it already includes "Mini Mario & Friends" info. Anyways, most of what Bowser does isn't a "hip drop," so I think the SMB3 info should be removed from the Ground Pound page, anyway. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 14:42, October 3, 2024 (EDT)
Mini Mario & Friends actually uses the name "Bowser Bomb", which is probably why it's here already. Hewer (talk · contributions · edit count) 06:53, October 4, 2024 (EDT)

A discussion on Yoshi Bomb suggests an alternative: merge both Bowser Bomb and Yoshi Bomb into Ground Pound. Personally not a choice that appeals to me, but I wouldn't oppose. Salmancer (talk) 12:51, July 27, 2025 (EDT)

Like with Shell defense, I like to keep this article within narrow terms; keep Yoshi Bomb too. I don't want merged pages with redirects in this instance. List Bowser Bomb only with explicit mentions of the animation of move with the move matching the one first defined in Super Smash Bros.. Superficial mentions are kept as bullet points in the notes section. Green Missile does this. Ground Pound's definition is another matter.   It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 13:28, July 27, 2025 (EDT)
Green missile lists a complete coincidence and things that otherwise only came after. It's not the same situation at all. Besides, once again Fire Breath is not split for Smash Bros., so why should anything else? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:45, July 27, 2025 (EDT)
I think the thing that swings it for me is that Mini Mario & Friends amiibo Challenge has a Bowser Bomb that is identical to the Ground Pound. No jump, no facing the screen, nothing. (So it itself fails to match Smash Bros.) It's just "Ground Pound but Bowser". And if a Bowser Bomb is just "Ground Pound but Bowser but named to express his individuality", then a list of things that have similar animations to the Bowser Bomb is a list of times Bowser has Ground Pounded. The "list of times characters have Ground Pounded" is the responsibility of the article Ground Pound. And so I would understand just putting in the intro of Ground Pound that "In some games, Bowser's Ground Pound is called the Bowser Bomb" Salmancer (talk) 02:32, July 31, 2025 (EDT)
Mini Bowser even does a forward flip before the Bowser Bomb, which the Bowser Bomb in Smash Bros. doesn't do. Salmancer (talk) 14:02, July 31, 2025 (EDT)
