Mother Yoshi no Shima, also called Shi no Shima, is an island that appears in Super Mario World! Yoshi no Tamago of the Super Mario Kodansha manga. It is shaped like the Loch Ness Monster and it is located South from Yoshi's Island.
Mother Yoshi lived on the island alone with some of her unhatched kids for a while (probably even forever), until an explosive storm hit the island, prompting her to send an SOS in a bottle. Yoshi finds it and go to rescue her, discovering that his siblings have perished during the bombing, but discovering that the explosions are caused by explosive Bowser's Minions, Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach manage to resurrect the Baby Yoshis, discovering also that the stormy cloud is actually Magikoopa's Kame Slugger. After Yoshi perished and is reborn as Winged Yoshi, he destroys the aircraft, but Mother Yoshi is kidnapped by Bowser. While on a second rescue mission, Yoshi and friends leave on the now safe island the Baby Yoshi with two friendly Dino-Torches, but the kids are later kidnapped by the Koopalings and taken to Devil Yoshi no Tō.
After that, the island does not reappear again, but while approaching the Kamekame Sangoshō while it is surrounded by the mist, Luigi mistakes it for Mother Yoshi no Shima, due to the two sharing the same shape.
