Trouble Center missions

I can't speak! is the twenty-sixth Trouble Center mission in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, initiated by Gob. It is first available after clearing Chapter 7.

In the original GameCube version, this trouble could be taken at any point after Chapter 7, although the player would not be able to complete it if they had not gotten the cookbook for Zess T. first. This is adjusted in the remake, where Seeking legendary book! must be completed as another condition before Gob's trouble can be taken.

Mission[edit]

Mario must have a Honey Candy in his inventory. He will need Zess T. to mix a Honey Syrup with a Cake Mix (bought from Pianta Parlor) to make one. Mario must travel to Fahr Outpost and talk to Gob, who speaks weirdly. Mario can answer whether or not he understands what Gob is trying to say. Regardless, Mario must give Gob the Honey Candy, which restores his voice. With the trouble solved, Gob rewards Mario with twenty coins as a token of his appreciation.

In-game description[edit]

  • "I've lost my voice because of this stupid, stuffy cold, YA-BOOMSKIE! I want someone to bring me some Honey Candy, YA-POW! Great for the throat, I hear. I think you make it by combining Cake Mix and Honey Syrup, YA-CHOW! I'll be waiting next to the snowman in Fahr Outpost, YA-BLAMMO!"

Hint (Switch exclusive)[edit]

Ian Foomus dialogue

  • "You can get Cake Mix as a prize at Pianta Parlor over on the west side. They sell Honey Syrup at the shop in the plaza. And if you need baking services to put it together, Zess T.'s place is right there in the plaza as well."

Journal

  • "You can get Cake Mix as a prize at Pianta Parlor on Rogueport's west side. Honey Syrup is for sale at the shop in Rogueport's plaza. If you need help baking it, ask Zess T. in the plaza."
