Joe and Mac are two cavemen from the titular arcade game series created by Data East. They make an appearance in an issue of the German Club Nintendo comics, "Super Mario: Verloren in der Zeit".

In the issue, Mario tries out a magic Alarm Clock delivered to him by Dr. Wily, and suddenly finds himself teleported into the Stone Age. Soon, he notices two other humans in the grass- Joe and Mac – and asks for help to no avail. Joe and Mac speak a different language than Mario, and when Mario attempts to talk in their language, they think he is messing with them, and Mac smacks Mario's head with his mace. This flattens Mario, and Mario proclaims he can fly and bounces away, while Joe and Mac shrug.

Joe and Mac are never referred to by their names in the comic.
