Soon, he notices two other humans in the grass- Joe and Mac – and asks for help to no avail. Joe and Mac speak a different language than Mario, and when Mario attempts to talk in their language, they think he is messing with them, and Mac smacks Mario's head with his mace. This flattens Mario, the plumber proclaims he can fly and bounces away, while Joe and Mac shrug.

Trivia

  • The Tyrant Triffid, an enemy from the Joe & Mac series, bears a close resemblance to the Piranha Plant. They are mythical man-eating plants similar to the venus flytrap that spit poisonous seeds. Their large ruler, the Legendary Giant Tyrant Triffid, has a position similar to Petey Piranha.
  • The title theme of the SNES version of Joe & Mac contains a background melody similar to the beginning of the Grass Land theme of Super Mario Bros. 3.
