Green Hill Zone (also known as Green Hill) is an area on South Island and is the first level in the game Sonic the Hedgehog. Throughout the Sonic the Hedgehog series it has made numerous appearances in many games, including Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Battle and Sonic Generations. In other games in the series, various levels including Emerald Hill Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Seaside Hill from Sonic Heroes are based off Green Hill Zone, having the same kind of green grass and checkered soil.
