Wind Spirits[1] (also known as Gusts[2] or Cyclos[3]) are enemies in Super Mario Sunshine. Their appearance is similar to a bluish-white square with an afterimage effect and surrounded by some winds. When Mario is on a high place, a Wind Spirit forms. It first spins around Mario, then suddenly stops and charges him. If it hits him, Mario usually gets knocked off the platform. Wind Spirits can be temporarily dispatched using FLUDD and defeated using a Yoshi's tongue. Wind Spirits yield a single coin upon defeat.

Wind Spirits appear in various courses. In Bianco Hills, Wind Spirits appear in the village during Episode 4 and on the windmill tops in Episode 8. In Ricco Harbor, Wind Spirits appear in all episodes. In Pianta Village, Wind Spirits appear at the bridge in Episode 3, Episode 5, and Episode 7. Additionally, Episode 3 has Wind Spirits at the Mushroom Platforms, and Episode 7 has some near Shadow Mario's M Graffiti.
