Their name seems to suggest that they're related to [[Ptooie]]s (another type of Piranha Plant), but it is unknown whether they are or not.

A Wild Ptooie Piranha.

A Wild Ptooie Piranha is a slow-moving Wild Piranha that shoots Needlenoses at Yoshi. It has a green color, as opposed to the regular red of any Piranha Plant. It also takes three hits to defeat. After the first hit, it turns yellow, then red before finally being defeated with the next strike. Chomp Rocks and Eggs thrown by Baby Donkey Kong can defeat it instantly. Wild Ptooie Piranhas are only known to appear in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Yoshi Touch & Go (where they spat Spiny Eggs, which could be destroyed with an egg or stylus tap, rather than Needlenoses), and Yoshi's Island DS.

Their name seems to suggest that they're related to Ptooies (another type of Piranha Plant), but it is unknown whether they are or not.
