I agree that there should be. Iv'e been searching for an article on this ever since i saw a picture of SNES rainbow road yet i couldn't find anything.

Half of these are not Thwomps

The square blue ones with no spikes are Whomp Blocks, not Thwomps! Additionally, the things referred to as "Whomps" on this wiki are Whomp Dominoes. 14.202.139.228 06:29, 29 July 2013 (EDT)

Whomps are the blocks with legs. Now, saying that the blue things are Whomp Blocks, even though they act just like Thwomps, is silly. As for the other thing, they act like dominoes only in a minigame. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 23:14, 30 July 2013 (EDT)

I'm pretty sure that they are all thwomps, they just look different because the hardware of the nintendo 64 was not big enough. Whomps have legs and hands and they are anyway subspecies of thwomps.

Actully, in the Mario Kart 7 Article, there's a link that says "Star Thwomp" that redricts to Thwomp. :| ~~ Boo4761

Don?

Okay, so I noticed a bunch of Thwomp-like creatures have "don" in their japanese names (Namely, Donkaku, Donguru, Tsukidashidon, Onimasudon, Donpyon, Donsuke). I was thinking "don" might be derived from "Dossun", is that too much of a stretch? Wallop and Stairface's Chinese and Korean names do seem to be based on Thwomp's. I'm not sure what to conclude. First occurrence of Thwomp's current design

If I'm not mistaken, Thwomp's current design was first used in Mario Kart Double Dash. Is it worth emphasising in the respective sections? It currently states that it was the first title in the Mario Kart series to utilise that design, not the Mario franchise as a whole. Ligiiihh (talk) 12:05, January 14, 2022 (EST)

That's not quite Thwomp's current design, but an earlier variation of it. Thwomp's current (spiked) design was introduced in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, if you compare Thwomp's current design to its appearance in Mario Party 7 which uses the same design as Double Dash and other games of the era, there's actually quite a bit of difference there. (Plus, getting into what is technically Thwomp's "current" design is a bit tricky, since they're inconsistently depicted with either actual spikes or more blunt carved edges, depending on the game.) -- Too Bad! Don't forget that Super Mario Run used both designs of Thwomp, and Super Mario Maker 1 & 2 uses different designs for different styles(SMB is spiked, SMB3 is the original blunt-spike hybrid, blunt for SMW, and spiked for NSMB). Somethingone (talk) 12:40, January 14, 2022 (EST)

I still think the article could use somewhat more consistency as it claims multiple times that Thwomp's design from SM64DS was reused in several games whereas the SM64DS segment itself actually states that the game carried over the design introduced in MKDD. Although I see that referring to it as the 'current design' could be somehow questionable as it has been altered quite a few times since then, I nevertheless consider its rectangular shape and face to arguably serve as the pioneering base for all future designs, distinguishing it from Thwomp's original cartoonic SMB3 art style and blue squared design first seen in SM64 in particular. Zelda Thwomps have their own pages now.

Hello, i noticed the suggestion on the thwomp page to have all the Zelda thwomps be their own pages, and to that end I have turned the redirects of these subspecies into their own pages, with the info that was on the main Thwomp Page. I also summarized the thwomp info on the main page, and moved it down to the "Other Appearances" section to be more consistent. If there's anything else that needs to be adjusted and such to accomodate this change, I think we should get to it.
