Monty Mole
Monty Moles are surly moles that has appear in several Mario games. They has been seen in a few side-scrollers, including Super Mario World. They reappeared in Super Mario 64, Paper Mario, and other games. In these games, they are generally cowards who throw rocks at Mario and then burrow underground before he can counterattack.
Monty Moles got their first place in the spotlight in Super Mario Sunshine, where they were Sub-bosses and controlled cannons. They attacked with Bullet Bills and Bob-ombs. From this, one can tell that they are quite handy with machinery.
Monty Moles appeared as obstacles in the Moo Moo Farm course in Mario Kart 64, where they were called Chubbies. They were also obstacles in Mario Kart DS, where they were referred to by their canonical name.
Super Mario World
Super Mario World featured regular Monty Moles that would pop out of random spots in the ground to surprise Mario. There were also Mega Moles, which Mario could actually ride on to get across obstacles.
Super Mario 64
Monties appeared in Hazy Maze Cave. They would throw rocks at Mario and then disappear underground.The part of the Cave they appearede in was filled with poisonous fog, making it harder to see and attack them. They also appear in a section of the level Tall Tall Mountain. If a lot of them were jumped on, a "life" would appear.
Paper Mario
Monty Moles appeared in Mt. Rugged. They threw rocks at Mario. Oddly enough, when they are defeated, they disappear, but their holes stay. In one of the walls of the mountain, there is a Monty Mole shaped hole, through which an endless stream of Monty Moles can pop out. There were also stronger varieties in Flower Fields.
Super Mario Sunshine
Monty Moles, or the same Monty Mole appears two times in Super Mario Sunshine, once in Pinna Park and another time in Noki Bay. It would throw Missile Bills , Bob-ombs, and Bullet Bills. It knows how to operate Cannons, similar to Rocky Wrenches.
Mario Superstar Baseball
Monty Moles also appeared in Mario Superstar Baseball as an unlockable character, where, oddly enough, they are on Mario's team. They have the ball dash ability, which allows them to run extremely fast while in possession of the ball.
Mario & Luigi: Partners In Time
Monty Moles appear in this game as well, but in the past. One is seen in the Gritzy Desert, and will impede the foursome's progress unless they can complete his challenge. Two more are seen in the underground of the Koopaseum and run an Item Shop. Deep in the Gritzy Caves, two more Monty Moles run two more challenges that must be completed.
New Super Mario Bros.
Monty Moles appear in a mini-game called "Whack-a-Monty" and appear again as the boss of World 6 castle as Monty Tank.
