Metroid is a series of video games created by Nintendo. Often considered a sister series to The Legend of Zelda, Metroid follows the exploits of legendary bounty hunter Samus Aran as she travels across the galaxy to hunt the creatures known as Metroids and thwart the plans of evil organizations such as the Space Pirates and their leaders, Ridley and Mother Brain. The series is noted for its dark, atmospheric nature and focus on exploration, and is one of Nintendo's most popular series for older gamers.
