Writing[edit]

Hello, a few things to keep in mind in your writing:

  • We don't use the word "you" on articles. In these cases, use the term "the player" or the character's name instead.
  • Avoid contractions (e.g. "they're" should be "they are").
  • The past tense of "lead" is "led", not "lead".

You can find more details on MarioWiki:Manual of Style. Lucina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 21:55, November 3, 2020 (EST)

Area count revisions on SMG[edit]

Hey, did you include planets the player cannot visit under normal circumstances? Because the chart is written to exclude them in the area count. - Nintendo101 (talk) 16:58, March 22, 2021 (EDT)

GY here. I didn't include inaccessible planets.

Awesome. Thank you! - Nintendo101 (talk) 15:55, March 23, 2021 (EDT)

Images[edit]

Hello, Galacticyoshi. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly use the {{aboutfile}} template. What you were doing looks like this, and it is an inconvenience for other users to fix up the template. It is simple to learn how to format it correctly. The pre-loaded coding is shown below.

{{aboutfile
|1=Subject of the image
|2=Where you found the image
|3=Artist
|4=Describe edits, if any
|5=Other versions (use file link)
}}

Just replace the necessary parts with that corresponding information, and remove the entire line of the variable(s) you don't use. If you do not wish to use the template at all, then it is acceptable to simply remove it before you upload the file. Please consider the above information before uploading more files. If you continue using {{aboutfile}} incorrectly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing.

Hello, Galacticyoshi. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must apply the proper license. A full list of licenses can be found in the file copyright tags category, but the following are the most common:

  • {{photo}} - Used for photographs of real-life subjects.
  • {{art}} - Used for artwork of something that is not a character.
  • {{comic-scene}} - Used for scans of a comic.
  • {{comic-cover}} - Used for covers of comic books.
  • {{tv-screenshot}} - Used for screenshots of television shows.
  • {{film-screenshot}} - Used for screenshots of movies.
  • {{video-screenshot}} - Used for other screenshots, such as those from YouTube.

When uploading, select the license from the drop-down box below the summary text box, or add the license manually after uploading or if you're using the upload function from the text editor. For example, artwork of Mario would use {{character-artwork}}.

Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Don't include multiple copyright templates; choose the one that you feel best fits the file. If you continue uploading files without applying the correct license, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing.

Hello, Galacticyoshi. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly categorize the file. It's simple to learn how to do so. Just search for the correct category by starting with the following groups:

Images Audio/video files

When uploading, copy the full title of the category and insert it in square brackets into the summary text box below the {{aboutfile}} template, replacing the {{uncategorized}} template entirely. If you're using the upload function from the text editor, simply add the category link to the description. For example, files related to the game Super Mario World would use:

[[Category:Super Mario World images]]
or
[[Category:Super Mario World media files]]

Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Keep in mind that some files can belong to multiple categories. Do not put images into the media files category, or vice versa. If you continue uploading files without categorizing them correctly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing.

Excessive edits[edit]

Please stop making excessive consecutive edits on one page on the Super Mario Wiki. This isn't a warning, and it's possible that you made a mistake by accident or without realizing it; this is simply a reminder for your information. If the action continues, then a warning will be issued. Thanks for reading and keep contributing.
If you feel this reminder was undeserved, you may appeal it.

Please avoid making too many consecutive edits to a single page in a short timespan, otherwise this floods the article's history page with edits (your edits in the past day spanned over two pages of 50 log entries). Keep them in fewer, larger edits and scan the page first to see what needs fixing rather than finding things to fix as you go, and if you need to, use the "Show preview" button to check your edits before saving. For small edits like fixing typos, they should be marked as minor by ticking the "This is a minor edit" checkbox (more info). Warning.svg
This is a warning to stop your inappropriate behavior (making excessive consecutive edits on one page / not filling in upload summaries) on the Super Mario Wiki. Please adhere to the rules or you will be blocked from editing this site.
If you feel this warning was undeserved, you may appeal it.

Please stop making excessive edits to the SMG pre-release page. Keep them in large chunks and use the "edit" tab at the top of the page to edit the entire page at once. Your images also need to be filled in as explained in the above reminders. Lucina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 23:53, May 4, 2023 (EDT)

GY here. Sorry about that. Haven't edited on Mario Wiki in a while and really want to help give people the full idea of how Galaxy originally looked, and I want the page to look the best it can so that's why I want it to look the best it can. Also, what is the status on adding beta images to the Gallery section of galaxies? Would it be okay if I added some from a few of the galaxies into their respective galleries, or would you rather have people be directed to List of Super Mario Galaxy pre-release and unused content?

Again, sorry about the excessive edits. I want the pages to look as clean as possible so that's why I make so many small edits.

Also, thanks for cleaning up the Star World section a bit. Looks a lot nicer. Completely forgot about the br effect. Galacticyoshi (talk)

Either way is fine; you can include images as long as they're labelled as such (e.g. in the gallery section with an appropriate caption, or next to information about it) or link to the relevant planets on the pre-release content page. However, you're still uploading images without filling in the summaries. Lucina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 23:52, May 5, 2023 (EDT)
