Toad City[edit]

The Super Bell Subway track added much more information about Toad City, should these be referenced here or maybe it's better to create a page dedicated to Toad City now that we have a wealth of information about it?--Mister Wu (talk)
The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mister Wu (talk).

If you we're to make a page about Toad City, my suggestion to you is make a proposal about it.

I don't think Toad City is important enough to have its own page. Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 02:27, 10 June 2015 (EDT)
That would be what the proposal's for. Hello, I'm Time Turner.
But can proposals be made for this discussion? I think point 15 is about not having proposals to create new pages.--Mister Wu (talk) 11:13, 10 June 2015 (EDT)
You have your disagreement in the form of Mario up there. You can create your proposal. Hello, I'm Time Turner.
Oh, please, Time Turner. *blush* Rule 15 simply means that, in general, you shouldn't be creating pages if there is a consensus. Note the "unless there is major disagreement" (which is me) part; if there is a disagreement, you can attempt a proposal and see how that goes, but I preferably rather have a discussion. No way is wrong, just a preference. Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 21:46, 10 June 2015 (EDT)

Create a page about Toad City[edit]

DELETED BY PROPOSER

Although before the 2nd DLC pack of Mario Kart 8 there wasn't much information about Toad City and that city only seemed to host 3 tracks (N64 Toad's Turnpike, Toad Harbor and N64 Rainbow Road), in Super Bell Subway three important maps were found: one is a map of Toad City with the important places highlighted, the other is an outline of the orange line and the third is an outline of all three railway lines. These maps revealed that the city hosts Super Bell Subway and is near Wii Moo Moo Meadows (there is also a reference to Wii Wario's Gold Mine, although in that case it could be that the headquarters of the company running it are found in the city). The railway map also reveals that the city is connected to other tracks as well and finally, it has been found that the headquarters of many companies in Mario Kart 8 are found there. If we consider all this information, along with screenshots of two of the maps (the orange line map is not useful , as its information is fully contained in the railway map) and of the City from N64 Toad's Turnpike, Toad Harbor and N64 Rainbow Road, an entire page could possibly be made.

  1. Mister Wu (talk) Because of the reasons cited above

Oppose[edit]

  1. LudwigVon (talk) I don't know why we need to create a page about a location that we didn't even see somehow. I also think that the city your talking about is maybe not name Toad City (citation need). There's not a lots of materials that exist about this location. Also per Bazooka Mario's comment. I also have a option for you, you could talk about this city (if it's not speculations) on the List of implied locations.
  2. SuperYoshiBros (talk) It's nothing more than something in the background, so I see no reason why it deserves an article.
  3. Pyro Guy (talk) There may be too much speculation regarding this, with the entire location being a background element. Per LudwigVon.
  4. BabyLuigi64 (talk) Yeah, this isn't a location that we know enough about to create an article for, especially since we've only seen the city from above view. Although, since it has been actually seen, I don't think it belongs in the list of implied locations; Such locations are ones that have not physically been seen, according to the page.

Comments[edit]

I don't see how well this article will hold up based on just signs in several tracks. If my analogy is flawed, then tell me, but we don't create articles on sponsors simply because they appear in several tracks. Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 21:00, 10 June 2015 (EDT)

The main linking part is Toad Harbor: it is associated to Toad City in this article and is present in the map as well. If you need it, I have a screenshot of the map that you can compare to the city of N64 Rainbow Road. Their layout match. If you have evidence that the city in the map is not Toad City, however, I will agree that the article must not be changed at all. Edit: The screenshot is this, you can compare it to the city under N64 Rainbow Road here. --Mister Wu (talk) 22:11, 10 June 2015 (EDT)
Regarding the analogy, we have much more information than just signs about a single company, because that city has elements that can be seen from more than one track (the tower, the statue of Peach, the railways), it is also connecting many tracks together and has even connections to almost all of the aforementioned signs. This would not be an article about Ludwig Painting, it would be about Ludwig Painting and many other companies, plus some notable features of the city and the tracks it connects, so while I understand your point, I don't know if the scale is really the same as that of a single company. I would rather think about Rogueport in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door to make a comparison.--Mister Wu (talk) 22:24, 10 June 2015 (EDT)

Wait, I have an idea. What if we make a disambiguation page that tells a little bit about the city at the top and links to all areas that take place in or around the city? Lumastar (talk) SMG GreenLuma.jpg 16:31, 11 June 2015

That sounds like a good idea!

The proof that the city below N64 Rainbow Road is Toad City is essentialy flawed[edit]

I was basing my considerations about Toad City on the sentence on this page that related it to the city below N64 Rainbow Road. However, that proof is not correct because the tower in N64 Toad's Turnpike (that can be seen here) is different from the tower of the city below N64 Rainbow Road (that can be seen here). I think this sentence should be removed from this page. While there is evidence that the city of Toad Harbor and Super Bell Subway is the same city below N64 Rainbow Road, there is no longer any clear evidence that this city is Toad City. I can consider this question settled for now, unless some other evidence emerge. While I think it would be neat to do a page about this city below N64 Rainbow Road, since this city has currently no name I suspect it is not possible to create a page about it. Should I settle the talk page proposal or do I have to wait until the deadline?--Mister Wu (talk) 17:06, 11 June 2015 (EDT)

So if that's the case, you can delete the proposal. Just mark it as "Deleted by proposer". If you need help, contact a staff member. Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 18:55, 11 June 2015 (EDT)
You will also need to achieve it.

100px (talk|contribs) Kamek Power! 19:05, 11 June 2015 (EDT)

"Archive", you mean! ^-^ Well, you don't technically have to. Just mark it as "Deleted by proposer"; don't delete the entire thing! But, as I said, ask a staff member if you need help. Or me... Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 19:17, 11 June 2015 (EDT)
Is there a particular Template I have to add or do I have just to add the "Deleted by proposer" text and remove the TPP template?--Mister Wu (talk) 19:36, 11 June 2015 (EDT)
No, I believe you just have to add the gray "Deleted by proposer" text and remove the TPP template. Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 19:38, 11 June 2015 (EDT)
I should note, there is a sign in N64 Toad's Turnpike, saying "Welcome to Toad City". So then maybe the course serves as an entrance to Toad City, instead of being part of the city itself? It is a highway after all. Baby Luigi MSS artwork.pngBabyLuigi64Corrin (SSB for N3DS - Wii U artwork).png
If you look at the Sightseeing Buses you can see that the main feature of Toad City is the tower that can be seen from the course. Therefore there is little doubt that the city seen from N64 Toad's Turnpike is Toad City.--Mister Wu (talk) 21:52, 11 June 2015 (EDT)
But like Mario said, that tower and the tower below N64 Rainbow Road do not match. Baby Luigi MSS artwork.pngBabyLuigi64Corrin (SSB for N3DS - Wii U artwork).png
Hm? Well, as I said, the whole Toad City thing might be just a cute way of little recurring locations, so I don't think it's significant enough to get its own article. Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 20:03, 12 June 2015 (EDT)
Actually, I was the creator of this section and the one who said that the towers do not match...--Mister Wu (talk) 20:13, 12 June 2015 (EDT)
Oh, I didn't notice that. :P Sorry. Baby Luigi MSS artwork.pngBabyLuigi64Corrin (SSB for N3DS - Wii U artwork).png
Don't worry;-)--Mister Wu (talk) 18:40, 13 June 2015 (EDT)
