Do We Need This?[edit]

I have no idea why we have this article, or the ACNL one either. Is it necessary? Baby Luigi MSS artwork.pngBabyLuigi64Corrin (SSB for N3DS - Wii U artwork).png

It's a DLC pack. I know it's something that's like, a new concept to the Mario series, but DLC merits its own article. Like New Super Luigi U does. Little Mouser.PNGPaper Jorge (Talk·Contribs)
NSLU may count as DLC, but it was still released as a disk independent of NSMBU. It's more like a separate game as opposed to these DLC packs. Baby Luigi MSS artwork.pngBabyLuigi64Corrin (SSB for N3DS - Wii U artwork).png
The MK8 page is pretty lenghty, BTW. This article (along with the ther) helps to find informations about the DLCs as a whole instead of being scattred around thd article. I also reccomend to do "List of Mario Golf: World Tour DLCs", as, even if the infos ard not scattred much like MK8 (which DLCs comprise vehicles, characters and tracks), it is useful to find just them instead of looking for all the article, which sometimes is useful. I created them for this scope, and this is also the only place denoting the Blue Falcon. Got it? But if you come with greater opposes, I will understand. YoshiCGicon.pngTSUNAMIPlessie Artwork - Super Mario 3D World.png
Yes but I don't think length will be a problem in the article. Since the packs are so similar, I don't see a problem in keeping the content of the DLC in one section. Also, I don't see what you're getting at with the Blue Falcon thing. Lengthy articles are exactly why there is a table of contents there at the beginning. Readers can find where it is there, and they won't have to scroll all the way down. I'll propose this later to see what others think, anyway. Merge with Mario Kart 8[edit]

Settledproposal.svg This talk page proposal has already been settled. Please do not edit any of the sections in the proposal. If you wish to discuss the article, do so in a new header below the proposal.

don't merge 2-10

Note: This also applies to Animal Crossing: New Leaf X Mario Kart 8 as well.

I'm a little unclear on why we have these pages. I don't know what policies we have on DLC (if any at all) but these are small add-ons to the game. Now I know we have New Super Luigi U, but it's really it's own game, but it doesn't affect New Super Mario Bros. U, plus it comes in a disk, which proves my point. These are simply DLC packs, or add-ons, to the regular game. So I'm proposing to merge both DLC articles to the main MK8 page.

Proposer: BabyLuigi64 (talk)
Deadline: September 30, 2014, 23:59 GMT

Merge[edit]

  1. BabyLuigi64 (talk) Per my proposal.
  2. Trainiax (talk) They should just have a section titled "Legend of Zelda DLC" or "Animal Crossing DLC"

Leave Separated[edit]

  1. Paper Jorge (talk) The MarioWiki should adopt a policy wherein DLC packs merit their own article.
  2. Walkazo (talk) - People might try to search for information about the DLC in particular. Plus, having DLC pages will keep the main articles from potentially getting cluttered if lots of packages end up being released. And looking at the two upcoming DLC examples, it looks like there's enough info to make decent-sized standalone pages for the content.
  3. 1337star (talk) Per Paper Jorge. This is an issue that should be definitively decided for this and future DLC, not just as a TPP for these two articles (or at least I assume that's his reasoning).
  4. Tsunami (talk) Per all and per my comment before and after this.
  5. Ghost Jam (talk) Per Walkazo.
  6. Toadbrigade5 (talk) Per all
  7. Yoshi876 (talk) Per Walkazo.
  8. River Pirahna (talk) Per Walkazo. We do not want the main article growing to an excessive length.
  9. Lumastar (talk) Per all.
  10. Superfiremario (talk) Per Walkazo.

Comments[edit]

@Paper Jorge: Why do you think this though? Baby Luigi MSS artwork.pngBabyLuigi64Corrin (SSB for N3DS - Wii U artwork).png

@'Shroom64 By the way, those DLCs aren't small. Confront them with World Tour DLC: that's likely why they didn't get an article, they have six mere stages (that are retooled) and 4 characters in total. These in total give 20 characters (counting color swaps), 16 tracks and 8 vehicles. YoshiCGicon.pngTSUNAMIPlessie Artwork - Super Mario 3D World.png

Well, the Yoshi and Shy Guy palette swaps aren't really part of either DLC, but only as a bonus for getting both. I don't count them as separate characters either. So those maybe can go to the MK8 article. Leave those out and you have 3 characters, 2 cups and 4 vehicles each. Baby Luigi MSS artwork.pngBabyLuigi64Corrin (SSB for N3DS - Wii U artwork).png
Those are a lot contents, that are enough to deserve an article. Also, as other said, some people may look just for the DLC, to know the exact content of them, instead of maybe lost in the MK8 article. Yep, these articles are much clearer that MK8's, which is completely uderstandable due to the enormous contents in the game. I would suggest to even make a "List of Patches in the Mario series" and, when enough, "List of DLCs in the Mario series", but now is too early. YoshiCGicon.pngTSUNAMIPlessie Artwork - Super Mario 3D World.png
Lost in the MK8 article, maybe, but we have a section on DLC right in the article; it's not like it's a pain to look for the section either. Baby Luigi MSS artwork.pngBabyLuigi64Corrin (SSB for N3DS - Wii U artwork).png

@Trainax Now you and Shroom are contraddicting each other? While he proposed to delete because the info can be found scattered in the article, while you proposed to merge everything about DLC to one section (worser idea). Try to at least decide a way to incorporate it into the article... YoshiCGicon.pngTSUNAMIPlessie Artwork - Super Mario 3D World.png

Uh, no, I never said scatter the info. What made you think that? And how is putting it into one section worse? I don't get it, you said the info scattered around is a bad idea, I think you're sort of contradicting yourself, if you think of this article as a section in and of itself. Baby Luigi MSS artwork.pngBabyLuigi64Corrin (SSB for N3DS - Wii U artwork).png
(Gaaaaah! I have confusion!) I know you never said it was scattered, but moving every DLC content to one single section has pros and cons: yeah, it would make things easier to find, BUT some of the people will find natural have the infos of the respective sections, and not finding them (without accurate look, like most do) will get a large disappointment from a site like this. I oppose because the way they are formatted (these being main article, info scattred all around for quick look and a small DLC setion linking to the main pages) is the finest and better: if you want to merge, you will have to tell info TWICE both scattred and in one section. If you want, I am totally OK, but I dunno if that is allowed by policy. Gotcha? YoshiCGicon.pngTSUNAMIPlessie Artwork - Super Mario 3D World.png
Well, to my knowledge, no place in the MK8 article states which characters are DLC and is missing the Blue Falcon last I checked. It so far only will denote the character and vehicle stats, and nothing but the high number of "this section is about upcoming DLC" templates (which will be removed when it's not upcoming DLC) even imply DLC. Baby Luigi MSS artwork.pngBabyLuigi64Corrin (SSB for N3DS - Wii U artwork).png
How about this, this, this, and this? Not counting all the templates. I think the article clearly tells about the DLC. Everything know but Blue Falcon. YoshiCGicon.pngTSUNAMIPlessie Artwork - Super Mario 3D World.png
The first only talks about the Yoshis and Shy Guys, the second and third naturally clarify which pack you need for the characters/cups, but that last one is exactly the section I was planning to move the info to anyway. Baby Luigi MSS artwork.pngBabyLuigi64Corrin (SSB for N3DS - Wii U artwork).png
It is good the way it is. It offers all the basic infos that one needs. The main article, this and the other, approfonditely shows all the info that, in a way or another, is found all around the article (except Blue Falcon). If one is lazy and doesn't want to scroll all around the article, they can find all the info there. And (as Ghost Jam states) doesn't the policy technically say "more articles are better than less articles, if we can pull it off"? These 2 articles, even though seem useless at first, are good to tell info just about the DLC. One may not be informed about them and be bored to search all around the article. Again, did you got it? YoshiCGicon.pngTSUNAMIPlessie Artwork - Super Mario 3D World.png
Most of it, except as I keep pointing out there is a table of contents right at the top of the article to give one a direct link right to the section. You don't have to scroll down, or at least one or two clicks on the down button. Anyway, this proposal's obviously losing, but the more opinions, the better, even if they're all opposes, so I'm leaving it active. Baby Luigi MSS artwork.pngBabyLuigi64Corrin (SSB for N3DS - Wii U artwork).png
Well, if you don't already know the contents in general of the DLC you will not click the links, BUT scroll down. (ran out of comments) YoshiCGicon.pngTSUNAMIPlessie Artwork - Super Mario 3D World.png
But that's the function of a table of contents - if you opened, say for example, a book on the history of the Mario series games. If you wanted to look at the Mario vs. Donkey Kong games, you shouldn't have to flip through the pages to get there, especially since there's inevitably hundreds upon hundreds of pages. The table of contents tells you what page to start at. Same applies here. If one accesses an article to find information of one particular thing in the game, that's why the table of contents is there. It won't tell you page numbers, obviously, but clicking the links will automatically take you to the section named in the line you just clicked. Baby Luigi MSS artwork.pngBabyLuigi64Corrin (SSB for N3DS - Wii U artwork).png
I still tell you that if one doesn't know a c- about the DLC, they won't click on the contents randomly. But merging just because there is a table of content is a strange idea (no offense). And having everything in a page, as I said I-lost-da-count times, is better. YoshiCGicon.pngTSUNAMIPlessie Artwork - Super Mario 3D World.png
Uh, no, the table of contents isn't why I proposed this, this was because I wanted to see why we have these pages and whether or not to keep them. That point was to counter yours of people getting lost in the article. And YES, I get it. The flood of comments is because I keep countering your points. B-Dasher Confirmed![edit]

Can someone please upload a picture of the B-Dasher please! [[User:Trainiax|Mario Kart Master]] #MarioKartMaster #MK8 (talk) 18:16, 23 September 2014 (EDT)

There is not. The only proof of it is a Red Yoshi racing on it. YoshiCGicon.pngTSUNAMIPlessie Artwork - Super Mario 3D World.png
A confirmed user on Miiverse posted it. See for yourself. By-The-Way, I am on Miiverse as Trainiax / Nic. [[User:Trainiax|Mario Kart Master]] #MarioKartMaster #MK8 (talk) 14:09, 24 September 2014 (EDT)
Is it the icon? It probabily isn't, so I'm not gonna upload it. Why you can't? YoshiCGicon.pngTSUNAMIPlessie Artwork - Super Mario 3D World.png

Surprise Surprise[edit]

Yoshi Ciruit. It's in the Egg Cup, nice catch user whose name starts with an F but I can't remember. But notice: The egg cup is in the RETRO row. And it's a Mario item. I think it's safe to say the cup will be retro and contain Wii wario gold mine. The Triforce cup is more than likely to have the new ones, as everything new is from another series. Speculation or fact guys?Toadbrigade5 (talk) 00:09, 22 October 2014 (EDT)

Sorry Frogger. But still, nice catch. Toadbrigade5 (talk) 00:12, 22 October 2014 (EDT)
Full DS glory I see. Double retro tracks confirmed? This originated from GCN. Stuff I'd like to note from the video are the following:
  • 0:03 Oooh, Japanese... I can't tell what's written.
  • 0:04 OK, all the differences I can see from this view are:
    • The bottom part of the island is now inhabited and larger to fit houses. In the DS version, there was a bit of grass, then full sea.
      • There are boats too.
      • There is also a Yoshi elicopter-styled house (?), you know, those of the Yoshi series.
      • Yoshi head-shaped island distand from the main one in the orizon.
      • There is a small waterfall at the left of the gallery.
      • There is some more trees.
      • I swear I never seen the lake in the top part in DS...
      • The red "shell" has now an impalcature.
      • No Piranha Plants? The end part is a bit bland...
  • 0:08 Pause at the right moment and you'll see two ads: "Yoshi's Egg Marmit" (is there in game already?) and "Egg Cup" (so it's in the Egg Cup).
  • 0:15 Yoshi Berries in a tree! Yet another cameo.
  • 0:17 "Mario Work Gear". Is it in game?
  • 0:22 A Yoshi is watching behind rails. And there are some others, all in the gallery.
  • 0:24 A Blue and Orange one spotted.
  • 0:26 The first shortcut has now got a waterfall! ...And I'm assuming it's slightly higher, so you can do a trick.
  • 0:31 (at right moment) There's a black and light green striped lighthouse.
  • 0:33 Oh, there are some hidden Piranha Plants.
  • 0:36 New ATV confirmed! It's a classic jeep, still something. The ATVs were just three..
  • 0:38 There was a pendence at the right: now a ramp was added. BTW, one of Tanooki Mario's tricks was shown fully: jumps, sees the player, swings his tail looking left and returns.
  • 0:49 The "shell", looked from behind, is empty. Also, yet another Yoshi Berry tree (total: 3).
  • 0:50 (at right moment) An oblique Pipe?

@Toadbrigade5 F what? Isn't yet again the name Yoshi Island? YoshiCGicon.pngTSUNAMIPlessie Artwork - Super Mario 3D World.png

You didn't read anything I wrote did you?Toadbrigade5 (talk) 00:47, 28 October 2014 (EDT)
I readed, so? I just wanted to point out some particulars... YoshiCGicon.pngTSUNAMIPlessie Artwork - Super Mario 3D World.png

Tanooki-Buggy[edit]

I think it isn't a "Tanooki"-Buggy. The Tanooki-Sign on the back is there because Tanooki-Mario sit in the Buggy. The color and the sign depends on the character.N-liker

The brown M thing was obvious. I don't think it will change colors if not the black stripes on the back... anyways, I'll just put it conjectural, unless you put a non-Japanese (since not everyone understands it) source. None said it's called Tanooki Buggy (it may be though, there is a cat kart) YoshiCGicon.pngTSUNAMIPlessie Artwork - Super Mario 3D World.png

Some one make it already![edit]

Here, a video!http://nintendonews.com/2014/10/excitebike-arena-mario-kart-8-dlc/

Excitebike Arena is part of the Egg Cup[edit]

Nintendo Japan's official site says the new Excitebike track is part of the Egg Cup. Someone change this accordingly. 100.2.158.106 20:39, 28 October 2014 (EDT)

I disagree, there were Triforce symbols in the video. It didn't say ___ Cup but there were triforces. Aaand its a nitro course, so shouldn't it go in the nitro cup?Toadbrigade5 (talk) 21:06, 28 October 2014 (EDT)
Well I saw the Egg Cup icon next to the track so I assumed so, but whatever, I'll leave it be. Unit Space (talk) 21:19, 28 October 2014 (EDT)
I can't see any Egg Cup or Triforce Cup ad in the track. And just because one retro track is in Egg Cup, this doesn't mean it is a retro cup... YoshiCGicon.pngTSUNAMIPlessie Artwork - Super Mario 3D World.png

A hint about the release date.[edit]

It is say in the video that the release date will be "in the end" of november. Can you add it in the article as I cannot ?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfwev-aDxLA

109.213.69.149 17:44, 1 November 2014 (EDT)

The german Website of MK8 says the same N-liker 17:49, 1 November 2014 (EDT)

Who says that the picture showed in that video is real? It just can be an edited picture with a fake date of release. If that user had made directly that video, ok, I can more believe it, but look closely to the ": end of" sentence. The colon looks strange, as the bottom dot is smaller than the top one, and the "end of" part it was probably ripped from the "legEND OF zelda" sentence above. Finally, I've checked by myself the Nintendo eShop and it says that the DLC pack will be released in November 2014, without that "end of". --79.54.240.163 18:58, 1 November 2014 (EDT)

For me, it seems legit. YoshiCGicon.pngTSUNAMIPlessie Artwork - Super Mario 3D World.png
As I said, the official German website of Nintendo says the same.N-liker 03:01, 2 November 2014 (EST)

I just watched the video and visited the (North American) eShop. That is exactly what it says on the TLoZxMK8 pack page there. The video is legit. --Steve470 (talk) 06:33, 2 November 2014 (EST)

Ah, ok. In the European eShop it isn't confirmed yet, probably because Nintendo of Europe hasn't updated it yet. Just watching that video I had a huge doubt, but since there's really a confirm on the NA eShop and the German website, I've no more doubts! --79.54.240.163 06:51, 2 November 2014 (EST)

Rupees replace Coins on Hyrule Circuit[edit]

Just saying, its true. Let us not forget, k? Just writing it here to remind people when the page is made.Toadbrigade5 (talk) 19:38, 5 November 2014 (EST)

Should DLC titles be italicized?[edit]

I noticed that in some pages they are italicized, while in some pages not (including the main page). Is there a rule about this? Hippopo (talk) 21:35, 5 November 2014 (EST)

I don't think they should be italicized, or at least, I don't italicize them. Can you link where are they italic? YoshiCGicon.pngTSUNAMIPlessie Artwork - Super Mario 3D World.png
The main article of this talk page used italicized DLC titles. Hippopo (talk) 02:01, 6 November 2014 (EST)
While DLC names themselves are not italicized, currently both pack-titles contain series or game names, which do are italiced per policy. Lakituthequick.png Lakituthequick 03:16, 6 November 2014 (EST)
Oh yeah, that. If you see the The Legend of Zelda (or Animal Crossing) × Mario Kart 8 it's fine. If you see "Mario Kart 8" unitalicized italicize it. In talks I don't think this rule applies. YoshiCGicon.pngTSUNAMIPlessie Artwork - Super Mario 3D World.png

Some references not needed any more upon release?[edit]

With the DLC pack released and related information published officially, it seems that some pre-release references are not needed any more. Shall I detele them? Hippopo (talk) 17:17, 15 November 2014 (EST)

It doesn't hurt to leave them. There isn't a good reason to remove references, especially ones from official sites in general. References should be accumulated, not shed. Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 17:21, 15 November 2014 (EST)
