Split?[edit]

I'm pretty sure the magenta orbs are different enough from the blue ones to deserve their own page. Sorbetti Sorbetti Sorbetti (talk) 18:35, April 23, 2025 (EDT)

Reorganize this page and split Spirit Ball (magenta) and merge it with Possessed bin, Takarabako Obake and Gold bunny[edit]

Let's begin.

1. Differences

Yes both individuals are Spirit Balls, I don't deny that, but they have so many mechanical differences that I think they should be separated. I know this is about colored enemies, but since the Magenta Spirit Balls don't have names or mentions, I think having them here is conjectural. Here you will see the main differences

Spirit Ball (blue)
  1. Disappears objects by making them invisible
  2. Dark light can be used to return the object to normal without any problems
  3. When the object returns to normal, the spirit balls will be shot out
  4. The spirit balls outside the object will wobble and teleport from time to time
Spirit Ball (magenta)
  1. They possess objects, giving them life
  2. To return the object to normal, the player must first stun or capture the possessed object
  3. When the object is returned to normal, magenta spirit balls will spin in a circle and then try to escape
  4. They will move trying to get away from the player so as not to be captured.

As you can see, both enemies have very different concepts from each other.

2. Current page problems

The current page has several flaws, in my opinion.

  1. The first is that its format differs greatly from other types of ghosts, as it doesn't include the first and last appearances.
  2. The page focuses vaguely on the concept of the Spirit Ball, neglecting to mention details about Blue Spirit Balls, such as their participation in LM3, in favor of a vague description of Magenta Spirit Balls.
  3. Their appearances related to jewels or important treasures are also not mentioned, as I stated , the page focuses only on the general concept in a curt, poor, and vague manner.
3. The Merge of the other "3" pages

The reason for merging the other three pages is:

  1. We don't have official names for these individuals, and Takarabako Obake is such a vague reference that I wouldn't even consider it.
  2. Keeping them separate is like keeping Blue Spirit Balls distinct from the invisible objects they create. They are and originate from the same concept.
  3. What enables these enemies to exist are the Magenta Spirit Balls. Therefore, at the end of the day, these enemies are merely objects possessed by the Magenta Spirit Ball.
  4. This would facilitate better organization of the Magenta Spirit Ball page, allowing for sections to be created for each possession and how to defeat it.
  5. The enemies, with the exception of Possessed Bin, have very vague descriptions and do not include where they appear. In fact, the golden bunny that appears in Twisted Suites doesn't even have a page, lol.

For these reasons, I believe that a division with merges, and reorganization of the current page would be best.

Split and merge (Support)[edit]

Split but don't merge (Support)[edit]

  1. Sorbetti (talk) Per proposal and per xiahou.

Do Nothing (Oppose)[edit]

  1. Xiahou Ba, The Nasty Warrior (talk) I view the two colored variants of the Spirit Ball in a similar manner of some colored enemies that share the same name but have a different color with only slight behavioral patterns (like the colored Koopa Troopa or Cheep Cheep variants from Super Mario Bros. or if you want a closer example, the three different varieties of Elemental Ghosts from Luigi's Mansion all sharing the same page) so it doesn't hurt to have them merge. I strongly disagree with merging the possessed objects together, however, we have separate pages for Mummy and Statue Armour Ghost which are typically just Greenies that are behind the controls; it's similar to a character piloting a mech like Bowser Jr. driving the Boomsday Machine but in ghost form.

Comments[edit]

Hoooold on, you say that Possessed bin, Takarabako Obake and Gold bunny should all be merged because they (well, actually, just two of the three) don't have an official name, yet you also propose to split Magenta Spirit Ball from Spirit Ball... even though Magenta Spirit Ball (as well as Blue Spirit Ball) are unofficial names. Wouldn't it in such a case be better to use an identifier instead (e.g. Spirit Ball (magenta) or Spirit Ball (purple))? ArendLogoTransparent.pngrend (talk) (edits) 17:19, May 1, 2025 (EDT)

You are absolutely right, I expressed myself bad, however a key point is that although Spirit Ball (magenta) does not have a name, it differs completely in mechanical function and way of acting from Spirit Ball (blue), while the other 2 enemies without names, are only objects possessed by Spirit Balls (magenta) Sorbetti Sorbetti Sorbetti (talk) 19:28, May 1, 2025 (EDT)

@Xiahou Ba, The Nasty Warrior At the end of the day this is a proposal for colored enemies, so you probably aren't in favor of split these. There is an option to separate without merging if you're interested.Sorbetti Sorbetti Sorbetti (talk) 17:48, May 7, 2025 (EDT)
