Talk:Pinball Part
Is this actually necessary to cover?[edit]
The article seems to talk as if a Pinball Part is a unique element in Pinball, but when you look at the manual (on page 5), "Pinball Parts" is just the title they gave to the legend that's accompanying the board schematics pictured next to it (which isn't even uploaded to the wiki); hence the numbers. Even the Japanese version of the manual calls it a Yōgo setsumei ("Glossary"). A game like Metroid Prime Pinball has something like this listed under "Board Features" for its manual (pages 12-13).
So in essence, "Pinball Parts" (not a Pinball Part) is a glorified legend for a board schematic that is not covered on this wiki at all, yet still includes the assigned numbers that only make sense if you include said schematic... Why are we covering this?

- Because it's in the manual and it has an official name. PrincessPeachFan (talk) 09:02, May 28, 2025 (EDT)
- Not really an answer I find acceptable. Keep in mind that we're apparently treating a legend/glossary like it's an actual subject/mechanic that is worthy of its own separate article, just because they named the section "Pinball Parts" in the manual instead of "Glossary", and would've never gotten an article otherwise. I feel it's better to merge this Pinball Part article with Pinball, since it's essentially a list of objects and mechanics in the game.

- We feel like this is mostly redundant to just... Our own tables. Maybe we could rename the "Items and objects" section on Pinball to "Pinball Parts" and source the name, but that's about it. Not every chart in the manual has to be copied over to the wiki 1:1, and we certainly don't need to give them their own bespoke articles.

- The Japanese name seems to be a dead giveaway, we misread the manual. I'd delete this page. Honestly it doesn't even seem like we should rename "Items and objects", I don't think it was meant to be a classification even in English, the localizers seem to have picked the wrong words to communicate the concept for that list. Best "Pinball Parts" can hope for is a note on BJAODN saying the wiki totally goofed on this. Salmancer (talk) 20:30, May 28, 2025 (EDT)
