Why are 3rd-party characters being included in this Mario game? Just curious, as those edits have been dominating. Wayoshi 00:09, 3 August 2006 (EDT)
Because it is a third party game, by Square.HK
- Oh, not by Nintendo but by a sports videogame developer, like Konami for Mario Golf...good to know. :) Wayoshi 00:14, 3 August 2006 (EDT)
No by Sqare. They made final fantasy. Strange, eh?HK
Now Out[edit]
This game is now OUT in North America. Wikipedia, from the July 24 Japan version, has an article on this already, but of course, do not dump info or this time, it will be deleted. We need someone in the next couple weeks who has bought the game to majorly contribute to this article. Wayoshi ( T·C·@ ) 18:29, 11 September 2006 (EDT)
- That would be me, Wayoshi. Monty Mole 11:41, 17 September 2006 (EDT)
- I noticed. Keep adding and the template will come down on September 25th. :) Wayoshi ( T·C·@ ) 12:05, 17 September 2006 (EDT)
- Will do. Who knew playing video games could be accepted as work? Well, I'm off to do a little more...uh..."research". Monty Mole 12:21, 17 September 2006 (EDT)

I got the game. I'll do some stuff as well, around here. Oh, and even if it's accepted as work, we don't get paid! Paper Jorge ( Talk·Contributions·) Paper Jorge was here at... 13:02, 17 September 2006 (EDT)
Unlocking Black Mage[edit]
I have been having trouble unlocking Black Mage in the Rainbow Tourney. How many points are needed in the Extra course in order to get a gold trophy?
PLEASE TELL ME HOW MANY A.S.A.P.!
Name[edit]
I'm pretty sure it should be Mario Hoops 3-on-3. This is grammatically correct and how it is spelled on the games official website (I don't own the game so I can't check the instruction booklet). TJ Spyke 20:01, 25 March 2008 (EDT)
- Nintendo lists it officially on their main website as well. I'd vote for the move. Stumpers! 20:52, 25 March 2008 (EDT)
- I know this is way late, but after seeing this I checked my instruction manual. "3-on-3" is correct. NMRodo 07:23, 13 November 2009 (EST)

Glitchy Multiplayer[edit]
I think the game is a little glitchy, as I won 9 games, lost 5, did not get the Pumpkin or the Rainbow ball. My partner lost 9 and won 5, but on my rankings list thing, it says that both me and my partner won 9 and lost 9. Can somewon help me? - Lewa159
Yeah. I played Koopa Beach at 4:05 and nothing happened. But not on Multiplayer, on Single Player.

Baller Name?[edit]
What this "baller name" thing on the game is something unlockable? Lucoshi (talk) 15:54, 27 January 2013 (EST)
- Actually, those were taken from the official websites in relation to this game; and yes, it still counts in terms of mentioning said info on the article itself. --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! User Page | Talk Page 17:39, 27 January 2013 (EST)

Special Move Commands[edit]
Tell me if I missed it, but can someone please jot down the Special Shot Commands for each character. I can start it, as I have the game, but I only have Paratroopa and Dixie Kong unlocked. (I may need permission to start it...

How to jump-catch passes[edit]
This has been bugging me for a while… does anyone know how to make a pass receiver do a short jump before catching the pass? I see CPUs do it all the time, but in the decade I’ve been playing this game I could never figure out how to do it myself. Mikoro (talk) 08:08, 15 January 2019 (EST)
Yoshi Egg and Watermelon Balls possibly in wrong places?[edit]
I think the Yoshi Egg Ball and Watermelon Ball might be in the wrong places in the unlock chart, as I have a gold in the normal Mushroom Cup and have the Watermelon Ball, while my other trophies(Normal Flower and Normal Star) are both bronze. I do have Paratroopa, Peach's alternat costume, Dixie Kong and Bowser, so those unlocks are in the correct places, but can someone confirm that the Yoshi Egg Ball is unlocked by getting gold in the normal Flower Cup?

Merge Tourneys into their respective Cup articles[edit]
| This talk page proposal has already been settled. Please do not edit this section or its subsections. If you wish to discuss the article, please do so in a new section below the proposal. |
merge 6-0
Mario Hoops 3-on-3, much like many other sports games in the franchise, has a mode composed of tournaments named after the same general icons, those being the Mushroom Tourney, Flower Tourney, Star Tourney and Rainbow Tourney. These pages are currently split from the other cups, which I imagine is due to their different names and the Mario Kart-focused layout of the latter. I believe they should be merged for the following reasons:
- They have basically the same name. Besides their English name being similar, the Hoops Tourneys are literally called Cups in Japanese. The Mushroom Tourney, for example, is the キノコカップトーナメント, or Mushroom Cup Tournament.
- They have similar structures. These cups are made up of brackets of usually eight players/teams in almost every appearance they have (including Hoops's spiritual successor Mario Sports Mix, and the Hoops Tourneys are no different. Like the other games, the Mushroom Tourney is also the first one, followed by the Flower and the Star Tourneys. The Rainbow Tourney is a bit of an odd one, but as one of the lesser used cups, its placement in a game already varies anyway.
- No information needs to be lost. I have recently (i.e. just now) expanded the "non-Mario Kart" section of the Mushroom Cup to include more details about the cups in those games. I believe that, in this format, the information from the Mushroom Tourney page can easily fit within that section without looking out of place. I plan on having a future discussion about moving the focus of those cup pages away from Mario Kart cups and towards "general spinoff" cups, but for now, I think this placement in the page works fine.

Three-points goal: Merge the cups[edit]
- LadySophie17 (talk) Per proposal.
- AlTenDo (talk) Per ProPoSal.
- EvieMaybe (talk) makes sense
- Keegster2 (talk) The tourneys are functionally similar to their equivalent cups in the Mario Tennis games (the main difference being each match is on a different court), and your expansion to the Mushroom Cup article perfectly proves your third point. Per proposal.
- Camwoodstock (talk) We were kind of surprised this wasn't the case when we fixed this game's tables. Per proposal.
- BMfan08 (talk) Had no idea these were split until now. Per proposal.
