List of Missions

Hi,

In order to start filling the list of missions, I did a compilation of the preview videos I've come across so far. All of them have missions that are not on the list. Here's the playlist just in case anyone wants to help with building the page:

Total number of missions

As pointed out by this post on a Famiboards thread, there is some evidence that the total number of P-Switches on the map is 394. Even though there is no official, Nintendo-confirmed proof towards this number, I believe the evidence is enough as is, and no screenshots showing a greater amount of P-Switches missions completed has surfaced. Split into sections and mission locations

This page is an absolute beast to load, edit and navigate in general. With a total number of missions just shy of 400, the fully realized version of the page would have a giant 400 rows long table with 800 images total. We're nowhere near that and I've already had issues with the size of the code and with previewing the page while editing. Navigating it is also hard due to the lack of a table of contents to easily jump between sections. Would anyone be opposed to splitting the table into individual tables based on the general location? Speaking of which...

How do we determine the general location? They are not named in-game and most missions aren't anywhere near a course. I'd like to hear other people's ideas but to start with I would simply rename the column "General location" and then just list the region based on the closest course, so "Peach Stadium region", "Cheep Cheep Falls region". At least to start with, then we could get more specific directions like "Southeast of Toad's Factory", "North of Moo Moo Meadows", etc. Opinions? — Lady Sophie ^(T|C) 07:13, December 3, 2025 (EST)

I was about to bring that up. It would be nice if we split the table into sections corresponding to biomes on the map (as indicated by the general color), then locations can be identified by the location of the P switch. If it's within the boundaries of a course as indicated by Free Roam, then we just say it's within a course; if it isn't then we give a general direction to the P-switch from the closest course (e.g. Southwest of Mario Bros. Circuit). If we can't be bothered to note a direction, then just stating the general location is still good enough to disambiguate between those within the course and those that aren't. I think the first course of action is to split the tables up in biomes, like Dominoes says (e.g. desert, mesa, volcanic, central, southern sea, snow, forest, jungle, etc.) Then, as for the precise location for each P-Switch, we could do directions, though an image of its location on the map would be the most precise. I'm slightly against adding yet another image to this page because, as I said before, the page is expected to have 800 images as is. Adding another 400 of them with the mission's location would be a nightmare of loading times for slower machines. — Lady Sophie ^(T|C) 07:41, December 3, 2025 (EST)

what about a location image for each section, which numbers marking where each mission is? so like, the fourteenth mission listed (marked with #14 in the table for clarity) would be labeled with a 14 on the map? that would add just 13 more images while providing visual reference for every mission in the game. only issue is actually procuring a map... — eviemaybe (talk / contributions) 16:34, December 11, 2025 (EST)
