(First topic)[edit]

"Freezie is the only recurring enemy from Mario Bros. that has kept its NES name rather than its original Arcade name."

I'm pretty sure Spinies were in that game, too.Monty Mole 14:15, 7 August 2006 (EDT)

In the original arcade game, Shellcreepers, turtle-like enemies that resemble Koopa Troopas, were the basic enemy. In later remakes, Spiny replaced Shellcreeper. This was so newer gamers would not be confused and jump on the turtle enemy (which would, of course, kill Mario). -- Son of Suns

Oh, all right. Thanks. I was a little confused about that. Cheers! Monty Mole 14:21, 7 August 2006 (EDT)

Slipice[edit]

to Freezie. We should go with the common name. Unshy Guy (talk) 20:48, 21 November 2013 (EST)

What do you mean, we already use Freezie? Yoshi876 (talk)

Verification[edit]

"If all three platforms are frozen, no more Freezies will appear for that phase." I FEEL like that isn't the case in the remakes, but I can't be sure. Can someone double check for me when they get a chance? --ExdeathIcon.png Lord G. matters. ExdeathIcon.png 18:07, July 25, 2019 (EDT)

Big Freezie[edit]

Shouldn't the Big Freezie from Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix get his own article? He is a notable member of the Freezie species, the name isn't conjectural (when you start the battle it says "Big Freezie Battle") and you can even see normal Freezies around him. --Magma. Image[edit]

Shouldn't we use the Dr. Mario World artwork in the infobox since Smash features a nonstandard design for the enemies? Most Mario games use a variant of that design anyway. BubbleRevolution (talk) 19:31, June 9, 2025 (EDT)

There's a proposal saying we can't use Dr. Mario World artwork in infoboxes period. If the case is that the Smash art is too specialized, we'd have to go with art from an older game. (Also, using unused artwork in an infobox is kind of weird to me since the infobox is extremely public facing.) Salmancer (talk) 19:45, June 9, 2025 (EDT)
Reading this, it never states we can't use it, just that higher-quality renders take priority. Whomp King, Amp, and Sushi all use it, I don't see why that shouldn't apply here since there is literally no other official high-quality render of said design. BubbleRevolution (talk) 19:52, June 9, 2025 (EDT)
Oh, I see. Well this is a conundrum. Modern Freezies, disregarding Mario Kart 8, have pupils. Smash Bros Freezie lacks pupils. I'm still not entirely enthusiastic about unused art in infoboxes, but this is a situation where the Dr. Mario World art solves the problem. Salmancer (talk) 08:06, June 10, 2025 (EDT)
Bumping this because the idea never went into effect, but I agree that using the Dr. Mario World art seems like the ideal option. Is this something that would require a proposal? Okapii (talk) 16:17, August 8, 2025 (EDT)

Grasses category[edit]

I noticed that this article is in Category:Grasses, but do we have any proof that Freezie is a grass? —Thejohnston7 (talk) 23:21, September 3, 2025 (EDT)

I think it's being put there because the Perfect Ban Mario Character Daijiten states that Freezie is an ice spirit shaped like a bamboo shoot, going as far as showing artwork of it resembling a bamboo shoot. And bamboo is a type of grass. ArendLogoTransparent.pngrend (talk) (edits) 01:26, September 4, 2025 (EDT)
I think "resembles" and "is" are two different things. If nothing else states Freezie to be a grass, I’d say to remove this category. Dry Bones' Emblem from Mario Kart World This is me, D-B-B! Dry Bones' Emblem from Mario Kart World 01:30, September 4, 2025 (EDT)
