Yes. Maybe we can add it. Bro Hammer (Talk • Cont) 08:47, 9 June 2012 (EDT)
RarenessEdit
They only put 2 or three in SM3SL and a LOT more in NSMB2

In SM3DL, they had four, actually, counting the one in the golden Mystery Box. NSMB2 had the similar Gold Block, and they're a bit more common in 3D World, I think. Smithuser (talk)
Coin BoxEdit
Firstly, is "Question Box" the official name? If not, in this video about 3D World, the name for it is "Koin Bokkusu", which means "Coin Box". Could this be the official name? Mario JC
Super Mario 3D Land Coin LimitEdit
Can someone check if the Coin Boxes in SM3DL actually have a limit to them, and if so, how many coins/how long? Alexo (talk)
which English source refers to this as a coin box?Edit
exactly what the subject says? Pikachu210 (talk) 23:16, May 19, 2021 (EDT)
- Mario Kart Tour - If there's no source, it's usually in-game. Mario JC 23:19, May 19, 2021 (EDT)
Mario Kart World renameEdit
So, in the in-game manual of MKWorld, the Coin Box item is called a ? Block. What do we do here? Do we move it to the more recent name with an identifier? Or would that just cause a ton of confusion, given the ? Block page? Technetium (talk) 14:50, June 8, 2025 (EDT)
- Move it to ? Block with an identifier as it's the official name. PrincessPeachFan (talk) 12:46, June 9, 2025 (EDT)
The item being called ? Block doesn't really seem to be a name change to me, but rather it seems to be because it's supposed to be a different item. Visually it doesn't match recent depictions of the Coin Box, since those have had a more reflective golden color since 3D World, which they retained in MK Tour but which the ? Block in MK World lacks. And functionally, the ? Block item is hit from below when used, which reflects the usual functionality of ? Blocks in most games. This is very much unlike the Coin Box which has always been shown producing coins more passively, either while moving (3D World/Land) or while it's in use (MK Tour). So I would argue the ? Block item is actually supposed to be fully based off of a ? Block and isn't based on the Coin Box at all, and it therefore should be moved over to the ? Block page, and even be considered a new item in MK World rather than a returning one. Esteban3000 (talk) 05:30, June 13, 2025 (EDT)
Looking at the Japanese website, the item is referred to as ハテナブロック Hatena Block as opposed to コインボックス Coin Box. Pretty sure that means this is supposed to be a ? Block all along and not a Coin Box. rend (talk) (edits) 19:28, June 28, 2025 (EDT)
