Move to Crossovers with Balloon Fight[edit]
Balloon Fighter may be able fly but they come up short on being within the wiki's current coverage policy. What do Balloon Fighter's appearances consist of?
- Super Smash Bros. series trophy, sticker, and spirit, all of which we've established are outside coverage because Super Smash Bros. doesn't get full coverage anymore
- Several WarioWare microgames, and a minigame in Smooth Moves based on the microgame in that game. Unfortunately, it seems that being playable in a microgame isn't considered notable. I am uncertain if being playable in a minigame is treated the same way, nor if the answer to that question changes if the minigame in question is based on a microgame.
- A Costume Mario in Super Mario Maker, which. has been established to not grant things articles.
- A cameo in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and we don't really give pages to background features.
Okay, so what then, delete the page for not really being a relevant character to the Super Mario franchise? I'd rather not. See, we're supposed to make Crossovers with Balloon Fight at some point, and article about all the times Balloon Fight has been referenced in Super Mario-related media. But since Balloon Fighter is the main character of Balloon Fight, and most of the times Balloon Fight is referenced is as full game recreations in WarioWare microgames, this article is already most of the way to a full "Crossovers with" article already. An itemized list of things to add would be:
- An introduction
- The stage Balloon Fight
- The fish that appears on the stage Summit and the stage Balloon Fight, as well its spirit.
- The fish's entry for Prominent crossover elements
- Flippers as an item in Super Smash Bros. Melee
Villager's up special move Balloon Trip (which should have been on this article already)- The influence Balloon Kid has on Lulu
- BALLOON FIGHTER from Gamer and Sneaky Gamer. (Which you also adapt from a combination of Gamer and this page.)
Given the supremely short list, deleting this article to make "Crossovers with Balloon Fight" instead would inconsiderate of the editors who built up this page. I advise that the current Balloon Fighter page instead be retooled to create the "Crossovers with Balloon Fight" article. Salmancer (talk) 22:30, September 9, 2025 (EDT)
- Oh, I forgot that Balloon Fighter is one of the main characters of the minigame Gamer and the mode Sneaky Gamer. The latter is a major difference from what the initial post says. Yes, this is semantics, Gamer and Sneaky Gamer are largely the same thing, but that's coverage policy on a wiki for you. Modes are higher on the notability totem pole than minigames, so the addition of a mode featuring Balloon Fighter does change the calculus. I feel like that should move the needle in favor of keeping Balloon Fighter's page, but I also feel like much of the community would disagree. I guess BALLOON FIGHTER as a page would cover Gamet well, but at the same time we have plenty of pages for fictional characters within fictional works that are elements of fictional works, like Dirk Drain-Head. I think Balloon Fighter is essentially a Dirk Drain-Head alike. Salmancer (talk) 22:00, September 11, 2025 (EDT)
