Reticulon[1] is the main location of the Game Boy game Solar Striker. It is the home planet of the Reticulon Army, the game's antagonist, which is trying to conquer the Earth (in the year 2159). The game's protagonist, departs on the SolarStriker to defeat the invading army, reaching the planet and destroying its forces and bosses, saving the Earth. The game is structured in 6 stages, each representing one of Reticulon's area: Outer space, Ozone, City, Death Valley, Outer Base, and Core of Base.[2]

In the Super Mario Land 4 manga, a storyline based off Solar Striker sees the "dark planet" being able to move around the galaxy, in order to approach Earth and the Federation Army's base on the Moon and kidnap the Federation captain Āreku. The leader of the planet is one of Bowser's alter-ego: Torino Daiō. After Mario destroys the Reticulon Army with the SolarStriker, Torino Daiō uses a holographic machine to trick Mario into having to redo everything from scratch, but he is ultimately defeated and both the Earth and Āreku are saved. In the manga, the planet is inhabited by anthropomorphic hawks and ducks.
