Plot synopsis[edit]

Continuing from the events of the previous book, Mario and Pauline express delight of having left the haunted house, and a romantic relationship forms between the two, only for them to find the park deserted as Donkey Kong is still loose in the park. The two spot Donkey Kong on top of a pillar. Mario receives a phone call from a phone in a telephone booth and enters the booth to answer the call. However, Donkey Kong traps Mario while he is in the phone booth, with Pauline yelling for the police. Donkey Kong then runs off with Mario still trapped in the telephone booth so he will never rescue Pauline again.

Donkey Kong makes his way through the amusement park with Mario until they reach the roller coaster, which Donkey Kong rides until they reach the top of the ramp. Donkey Kong then jumps all the way to the Ferris wheel. Donkey Kong grabs Mario by the leg while on the Ferris wheel and dangles him above shark-infested waters, with Mario looking down and gulping. Mario calls Pauline to get his hammer, which Donkey Kong had hidden inside the haunted house, so Pauline runs back into the haunted house to retrieve the magic hammer and, after searching through the cobwebs, finds the hammer in the mad scientist's laboratory while Donkey Kong tickles Mario above the shark-filled waters. After Pauline climbs the Ferris wheel, she hits Donkey Kong on the head, and he falls into the water. The book ends with a cliffhanger, with Donkey Kong emerging from the water.
