Are we allowed to have enemy categories for non video game media? This proposal says we shouldn't put things from non-video games on the list of enemies because you can't distinguish antagonist from enemy without the mechanics of a video game, unless they also appear in a video game. This feels like a "definition of enemy" snafu. If it works the way I think it does, namely that non video games can't define "enemy" in any meaningful way short of outright using "enemy" in text, then we shouldn't be able to have an enemy category.

The wiki's current stance on this topic is inconsistent. Category:The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! enemies exists, but no corresponding enemy category for Super Mario Bros. (film) or The Super Mario Bros. Movie exists. Salmancer (talk) 22:32, June 16, 2025 (EDT)

I think the reason that categories for "enemies" in non-game media such as Category:The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! enemies and Category:The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 enemies exist is because the "enemies" in these categories had previously appeared in a game as enemies. However, as you mentioned about, with this context removed, the "enemies" are simply antagonists in this media. I'd move the "enemies" in these categories to the characters category of their respective media, but I think a proposal should be made to see what others think about it.   Maw-Ray Master (talk) 22:59, June 16, 2025 (EDT)
