First Notice

Be warned, for some parts of this page, you'll need to hilight words to see them!

Forward

Hello, fellow Super Mario Wiki Users. I'm known as Magikoopa around here. Now, I know what you're asking me. Why would you want to use Magikoopa as a Username? I'm telling you, it's not super-original and awesome, but I happen to be a fan of them and I already know where to find a sprite when I make my signature. Anyway, I joined the Super Mario Wiki on Thursday, May 24, 2007. I'm new here, so this page is under construction for the time being. For now, how about some general information?

Username

As I have mentioned previously, I chose the Username Magikoopa because of its advantages. Let's just leave it at that, shall we?

Editing Style

Personally, I am a big fan of the can't-go-wrong edits: small grammar edits here and there; spelling errors; punctuation; things like that. Sometimes when I find an article majorly lacking, then I will add as much as I can to it. Rarely do I create something from scratch.

About Magikoopas

The hilight of the page, right? Here are some facts and figures about the Magikoopa.

Magikoopas, or theoretically, Blue Magikoopas, are Koopa Troopas that can cast spells. They wear blue robes and hats resembling the garb of a wizard. They appear in the Super Mario World series, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga, and the Paper Mario series.

Appearances

Super Mario World

Magikoopas first appeared in Super Mario World. In this game they mainly appeared in fortresses, where they would pop out of thin-air and shoot magic at Mario or Luigi. There magic blasts had the power to turn a Block into a Yellow-Shelled Koopa, Thwimp or a Coin. The magic blasts came in the forms of shapes: a circle, a triangle, and a square. They basically seemed to replace Hammer Bros as the elite forces of the Koopa Troop.

Yoshi's Safari

A single Magikoopa appears in Yoshi's Safari as the boss of Cornice Cave. This Magikoopa would attack Mario and Yoshi by teleporting around and shooting magic blasts. This Magikoopa could be defeated by being blaster repeatedly with Mario's Super Scope.

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

In Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, several Magikoopas appear as minions of Bowser. Unfortunately for Bowser, the Magikoopas, along with the remaining members of the Koopa Troop, choose to abandon him rather than aid him battling the Smithy Gang.

Later on in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, a red robed Magikoopa is encountered. This Magikoopa, possibly Kamek, had been brainwashed by the Smithy Gang and acted as a guard in Bowser's Keep. In battle, this Magikoopa wouldn't attack directly, it would instead summon monsters to fight for and protect it.

Once defeated in combat, the brainwashing of the Smithy Gang will wear-off on the Magikoopa and it's robes would turn back to the standard blue color. The Magikoopa would then become an ally of Mario, healing him and his allies and creating a Treasure Chest that could give Mario unlimited coins.

Paper Mario

Magikoopas were semi-rare enemies in Paper Mario. One first appeared as a mid-boss in Shooting Star Summit, and they later appeared in Bowser's Keep. They maintained their teleportation abilities in this game, appearing and disappearing randomly and making it easy for them to get a first shot on Mario. In this game some Magikoopas ride broomsticks, and have to be knocked off before Mario can hit them with his Hammer. They can also cast a healing spell, or make enemies stronger. Many sub-species were also introduced in this game.

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga

In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Magikoopas appear in Bowser's Castle, which had been hijacked by Bowletta. These Magikoopas would attack Mario and Luigi by shooting large, spinning rings of fire at them and they would also boost themselve's or other enemie's health or attack power.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

Magikoopas are once again enemies in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, however this time they can be encountered much earlier. A trio of different colored Magikoopas can first be found in Glitzville, and later in Rogueport Sewers. They have the same battle plan as in the first Paper Mario, they also have the ability to make 1 HP "copies" of themselves.

The species can also be found in a few of Bowser's events too. In one event, tons of them can be seen in Bowser's army as he and Lord Crump face off.

Other Appearances

Mario Kart Series

An un-named Magikoopa (possibly Kamek) was originally going to replace Koopa Troopa as a playable character in Mario Kart 64. However, he was later replaced by Donkey Kong for unknown reasons.

A Magikoopa, hinted at being Kamek, appears in the background of the Bowser Castle 3 course in Mario Kart: Super Circuit.

Mario Power Tennis

Several Magikoopas appear as spectators in the Bowser's Castle course in Mario Power Tennis. Aside from simply watching tennis games, these Magikoopas do nothing.

Mario Superstar Baseball

In Mario Superstar Baseball, Magikoopas were playable characters. Interestingly they are on Wario's team, instead of Bowser's. Red, Green and Yellow Magikoopas also appear in Mario Superstar Baseball as alternate color schemes for the game's playable Magikoopa. Magikoopa is the only character in the game that keeps his bat out when fielding and pitching (not counting Petey Piranha, who uses his arm for a bat).

Role Among the Koopa Troop

Although Magikoopas seemed to replace Hammer Bros. as the elite warriors of the Koopa Troop in Super Mario World, they are now seen more as last-resort body-guards, and personal advisors for Bowser.

Physical Features

All Magikoopas have curved beak-like mouth (not unlike the mouth of a Hammer Bro). They also all have a type of hood on, and every one of them wears spectacles. Each one's wand is shaped basically the same, a standard scepter with a crystal at the end.

Mario Superstar Baseball Bio

A resident magician of the Koopa clan. The best of the Magikoopas, Kamek, once attempted to abduct the baby Mario Brothers, but Yoshi and Baby Mario thwarted his sinister plans. The magical powers of the Magikoopa also comes in handy in the game of baseball.

Appearances in Other Media

A Koopa Wizard, from the Super Mario World episode "The Yoshi Shuffle".

Magikoopas, though renamed Koopa Wizards made various appearances in the Super Mario World television series.

A Koopa Wizard character, said to be the strongest of them all and named Wizardheimer appeared in the episode "Ghosts 'R' Us".

The first appearance of Koopa Wizards as a species was in the episode "Rock TV", where Bowser used several Koopa Wizards hidden in televisions he sold to hypnotize the inhabitants of Dome City; near the end of the episode, Yoshi eats all the televisions of the cave-people and spits the Koopa Wizards hidden in them out, saying they taste disgusting.

A Koopa Wizard also appears in the episode "The Yoshi Shuffle" where it, after being angered by Luigi, who knocked it over, transforms him into an egg; this Koopa Wizard is eventually knocked backwards by a wayward, stone football thrown by Yoshi.

The last appearance of a Koopa Wizard was in the episode "Mama Luigi", where one appears to attack Mario while he was exploring the deserted Dome City.

Two unnamed Magikoopas were also featured in the Super Mario Adventures comic; one Magikoopa, similar to Kamek, was shown to be Bowser's second-in-command, organizing his wedding, among other duties. Another, elderly and mustached Magikoopa was also used by Bowser to brainwash Princess Toadstool and several hundred Yoshis. This Magikoopa is eventually defeated when it was trampled by the very Yoshis it had hypnotized.

Magikoopas are the subject of a song entitled "The Lizard Wizard" in the (unofficial) Mario Opera.[1]
