From the Super Mario Wiki
While first going unnamed, Mario Bros. is the sewers under Brooklyn, New York, United States, that has appeared in several Mario games.

[edit] Mario Bros.
In the debut game, the sewers was the only location in the entire game, much like many other 2D platforming games. The Mario Brothers Plumbing, or to put it simply, Mario and Luigi where called into service after reports of odd-looking monsters such as big turtles, big, angry crabs, enormous flies and weird ice-blocks appearing in the sewers of Brooklyn, New York. It seems like the Mario Bros. found a way to the Mushroom World in the sewers. Oddly, there's also coins and POW Block in the sewers. In the remakes (more specifically, the Super Mario Advance series and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga), the big turtles were replaced with spiked turtles, and Bowser also makes an appearance as an obstacle in one of the variants of the stage, further hinting that the Mario Bros. found a way to the Mushroom World there, as well as a possible reason.
[edit] Mario Power Tennis
In Mario Power Tennis, the stage appears in the form as the Mario Classic Court.
[edit] Super Smash Bros. Brawl
“Speaking frankly, this stage throws all the basic rules of Smash out the window!”
—Masahiro Sakurai, Smash Bros. DOJO!!
Super Smash Bros. Brawl was the first that the stage was called by a name. Like 75m, Mario Bros. is a recreation of a perfect reconstruction of the stage as it appeared in the original Mario Bros.. True to the original game, matches played on this course require vastly different strategies from typical courses due to it being almost impossible to KO a character normally due to its low ceilings, and instead, Shellcreepers and Sidesteepers need to be attacked first by either traditionally hitting the ceiling below or attacked, with either normal attacks, or by the POW block, and then thrown. When these enemies are thrown at opponents, they're sent flying at low angles, and can easily be KO'd as a result. Of course, the enemies can be reflected by attacks such as Fox's Reflector.
Oddly enough, the Fighter Fly is absent from this stage. Likewise, Freezie is used as an item, and is not a stage obstacle either.
[edit] How to Unlock
The course is initially hidden and must be unlocked before players can utilize it. In order to do so, one must complete the Event Match "Event 19: Wario Bros."
