After Chapter 5 is cleared and before starting Chapter 6, finding the Wedding Ring is necessary in order to progress the storyline. When in Keelhaul Key, Francesca loses the Ring and refuse to leave the island until it is found. Mario must go to Keelhaul Key to search for the ring, eventually finding it near the entrance to Pirate's Grotto. Mario returns the Ring to Francesca, who then goes back to Rougeport alongside Frankie and Mario.
Later, Frankie posts a trouble at the Trouble Center (available after clearing Chapter 6). He has lost the Wedding Ring after returning to Rougeport.
