Uncle Grimmly
Uncle Grimmly, Hermit of the Darkness, is a forty-five year old ghost that loves mirrors in Luigi's Mansion. In fact, he spends his time in front of mirrors practicing (what he considers to be) scary poses. Although Uncle Grimmly likes to think he is frightening, his ability to spook is actually sub-par compared to almost all other ghosts (even minor ones).
The only thing Uncle Grimmly loves more than mirrors is darkness. He will only appear when an area becomes pitch black, which is exactly what happened when lightning struck Luigi's Mansion after Luigi unsealed the door to the forth and final area. The lightning strike caused the circuit breakers to blow out, creating a blackout throughout the entire mansion. In these dark and eerie conditions, the ghosts came out in force, and there were too many to handle. Even the solitary Uncle Grimmly came out of hiding. As such, Luigi needed to restore power to the mansion to put the ghouls back into hiding. To do this, the green-clad plumber had to reactivate the circuit breakers in the Breaker Room, located in the mansions basement. Unfortunately, Uncle Grimmly locked the door to the Breaker Room with a key to keep Luigi's Mansion in perpetual darkness. Thus Luigi had to locate Grimmly before he could restore light to the dark mansion.
Fortunately, Luigi received a phone call from Professor E. Gadd following the lightning strike. The good professor informed Luigi that Uncle Grimmly prefers to reside in rooms with mirrors. As such, Luigi investigated the many rooms with mirrors in the mansion (searching for three Speedy Spirits along the way), eventually stumbling across Grimmly in the Wardrobe Room on the second floor. Once there, Luigi discovered Uncle Grimmly hovering in front of a mirror. The portrait ghost tried to scare Luigi by pathetically lifting up his hands and meekly wailing, but even Luigi was not scared. At this time, the green-clad hero activated his flashlight, stunning Grimmly as he tried to terrify. Luigi then turned on his Poltergust 3000 and began pulling the portrait ghost into the contraption. Uncle Grimmly did not even put up much of a fight. After a few weak pulls on Grimmly's part, Luigi managed to suck up the portrait ghost and acquire the key to the breaker room. After the lights were reactivated, the many ghosts that were previously having a field day in the pitch black mansion went back into hiding, allowing Luigi to continue his journey.
According to Luigi's Game Boy Horror, Uncle Grimmly likes to keep to himself. Sadly, this suits Grimmly's family just fine.
