Random Tiles Glitch

If anyone else has done this glitch or knows about it besides me, please put more info and clarify. I am writing this from memory of over a decade ago and don't have my NES or Super Mario Bros. 2 cartridge or NES Game Genie to perform this anymore. I can't remember exactly but I think only after the flap on my Game Genie was broken I was able to put the cartridge in at an angle. I'm not sure if this works for other games as well.

Glitches

There are many more glitches, off the top of my head:

  • If you pick an unripe vegetable (or certain other objects as Toad), at the correct frame upon exiting subspace, it will become stuck on your character sprite. You can climb vines and pick up other objects while it is attached to you, and you cannot discard it. It becomes "solid" when you change screens (door, climbing, falling, or dying) and usable thereafter as normal. This can allow you to take vegetables into fights with Birdo, or a potion to rooms without one (one interesting use of such is indoors in 6-1, where the unusable vases become warp zones, but only back to world 6-1).
  • If you push both up and down while climbing you accelerate upward quite fast. This is mostly only useful with a keyboard and emulator, or tool assistance.
  • Just before collision with an enemy, you can jump and then jump again in midair (a "doublejump").
  • Mushroom blocks can be placed inside almost any piece of semi-background scenery. It works better if you throw them into the edge (vines and chains are generally always one column, so both sides are edges).
  • POW blocks can make falling logs shoot straight upwards in some cases.
  • Throwing an enemy at another enemy you have just tossed, and having them collide before they both hit the ground, can shoot both of them straight up into the sky.
  • In some cases, you can throw a vegetable at an enemy you've already killed, and kill them again.
  • If you acquire a star, Phanto will avoid you, but if you pick 5 vegetables and get a clock to freeze time (on the 5th) while invulnerable, you can collide with Phanto to kill him. Note that some versions of SMB2 reportedly let you kill him with the key.
  • If you throw a potion above the top of the screen (such as in world 5-1, where you can get to) and go through the door, you will appear at the bottom of the screen in subspace, and immediately die.

As none of these seem likely to have been intentional (unlike tricks, such as picking a POW block in subspace and getting to keep it, bombs destroying miniture enemy-spawning vases, or reuse-recatch of vegetables) they probably qualify as glitches. Should all such be added? Splarka 01:05, 19 December 2010 (UTC)

Possible Glitch

One day, a long while ago, I was playing the All-Stars version of this game. I was in World 6-1, trying to carry the key out of the vase while avoiding the Phanto. Then, just as I exited the vase, I was hit by the Phanto on my last bit of health. The death fanfare played, but I exited the vase, seemingly unharmed. What was weird was that I had no hearts left, yet I was still alive. Glitch? Here's a screenshot of the aftermath. Note that I have no hearts. aaaaaaaa Mariomario64! 10:16, 19 June 2011 (EDT)

Hitbox Glitch

In the Super Mario Bros All Stars SNES remake, when you are small your hitbox is still one above you, so characters walking above you (Like in sand) can kill you, as well as flying bullets.

Reorganize into Consoles

This article refers to the glitches present in both the old and new version of SMB2 and I think it's a little disorganized with those two different categories mixed up into one gumbo of a page. I believe we should separate them into two separate sections: one in for the NES and the other for the GBA. What do you all think? Or do I need a TPP for this? Zero777 (talk)

Another glitch

Every now and then, I've had enemies randomly keel over. I've seen this happen mainly in the underground of 6-1. Anyone else? Tehshigelisok (talk) 01:07, 15 August 2013 (EDT)

Enemy Ambush

I randomly threw a pow block and picked up an enemy, then, in my hands the enemy died and was no longer in my hands. Then, I entered a subspace. The same enemy was now back in my hands. This is similar to the Bob omb ambush glitch. It also works by entering another area.
