Would this content be better on the Music references page? I don't think this was endorsed by Nintendo... -- Son of Suns (talk)

They likely had permission, as Nintendo probably would've sued them otherwise. -- Booster (talk)
Why? Mario references appear all the time. It is perfectly legal to mention or reference other media products without approval from copyright holders. -- Son of Suns (talk)
Well, the entire song is about Donkey Kong, as opposed to merely mentioning him at one point. If anthing, it's more of a tribute than a reference. Also, here's an advert for the album with Nintendo's copyright at the bottom. -- Booster (talk)
That's actually providing attribution to Nintendo's trademark, which is used to show that the creators of the song don't claim ownership over Donkey Kong. That doesn't mean the song has been approved by Nintendo. -- Son of Suns (talk)
I see what you're getting at. Maybe move this to the references page and use the picture from Pac-Man Fever as an image, though the lyrics would likely have to go (oh well). -- Booster (talk)

So...[edit]

This doesn't seem to have been actually licensed by Nintendo or whjatever. Do we delete this too? --Glowsquid 12:46, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

Yes, nothing to do with Nintendo. It's not official, just a reference to the game. The lyrics are copyrighted by Buckner & Garcia. It should be moved to List of Mario references in music--Platform (talk) 01:12, 21 November 2018 (EST)
