Mini Animal Token

Mini Animal Tokens are a variety of Animal Tokens from Donkey Kong Country. They exist only in secret areas, and each one-hundred that are collected by the player can be redeemed for an Extra Life. Mini Animal Tokens come in the shape of whichever Animal Buddy is collecting them (either Rambi, Expresso, Enguarde or Winky).

Once Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong collect three standard Animal Tokens of a particular Animal Buddy, they will be warped to a secret area, where they will have control over the represented Animal Buddy. In these bonus areas, which are unique to each Animal Buddy, the player must race to collect as many Mini Animal Tokens as possible before the ninety-nine second Time Limit expires. Although it is impossible to collect every last Mini Animal Token, the player should attempt to find a path that will earn them a substantial amount of Mini Animal Tokens.

In order to take advantage of the X2 Animal Token that can be found in each secret area, players should collect as many Mini Animal Tokens as possible, and then touch it just before the round ends. By touching the X2 Animal Token, the player's Mini Animal Token tally will instantly double.

Although every one-hundred Mini Animal Tokens will yield an Extra Life, any excess ones that the player has left over at the end of the round will be lost, and will not reappear should the player enter the same Animal Buddy's secret area.
