- This article is about Samus's spaceship. For the Subspace Army's gunship, see Subspace Gunship.
The Gunship is Samus's personal spacecraft in the Metroid series.
History
Super Smash Bros. series
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
The Gunship has a minor role in the Subspace Emissary in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. When the Subspace Gunship destroys the Halberd, the Gunship, along with the Falcon Flyer, Hocotate Ship, an Arwing, and a Dragoon with Kirby on top escape the explosion and attack the Subspace Gunship, flying through the portal to Subspace opened to bring the Subspace Gunship through.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U
- Main article: Zero Suit Samus#Gunship
In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, the Gunship appears in Zero Suit Samus's Final Smash. When activated, Samus jumps into the Gunship and takes aim at opponents from a first-person perspective with the on-screen reticle, which can be controlled by the player. By pressing the attack button, Samus can fire up to five dual laser shots that damages and launches opponents until the Final Smash runs out.
In addition, the Gunship appears during Zero Suit Samus's stage entrance, dropping her off onto the stage.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Zero Suit Samus once again uses her Gunship in her Final Smash, except this time she rides on top of it while wearing her Power Suit and fires a laser similar to Samus's Zero Laser from the background.
Nintendo Land
The Gunship also appears in Nintendo Land in the event Metroid Blast. During the event, the player controls a Mii dressed as Samus, using the Gunship to shoot several mechanical enemies. In multiplayer mode, the player using the Wii U GamePad will take control of the Gunship and either attack or work alongside the other Miis walking on the ground.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
The Gunship makes a cameo in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze in the background of the stage Busted Bayou. This is not only a reference to the Metroid series, but also to the fact that Retro Studios, the game's developer, previously worked on the Metroid Prime series.
