A Spiked Cleft.
Clefts are burly rock monsters, often with spikes on their head. They have high defense and high attack, making them one of the strongest enemies in the Marioverse. To defeat them, Mario should flip them over with an explosion, revealing their defenseless undersides. Among other areas, Clefts inhabit Mt. Rugged, Gusty Gulch, Petal Meadows, Boggly Woods, Twilight Trail, and even the Moon. Mario encountered Clefts during his adventures in Paper Mario and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.
Varieties of Clefts
- The common Spiked Cleft
- The spikeless Bald Cleft
- The green Hyper Cleft
- The powerful Iron Cleft
- The Moon Cleft, which is only found on the Moon
