Alex from the Game Boy Color version

In Mario Power Tennis, Alex is the Academy's best player and also is still the only one that has challenged Mario before. He is also the only character that cannot be faced. At the start of the game, Alex loses the match against Mario, who is wearing a mask to protect his identity. Alex states that he is surprised that Mario came back for a rematch and wonders when he'll be seeing the plumber again. When Max or Tina leaves for Isle Delfino after winning the Island Open, Alex tells him or her a bit about his experience against Mario and expects the player to beat Mario.
