Is "gray / grey" really needed?[edit]

I don't really see the need for two different spellings. especially when the only difference is replacing the "a" for American spellings to "e" for British spellings. This difference makes even less sense when the "color" header isn't "color / colour" (although it was the latter for a while); it was changed per the Manual of Style and warning policy. I don't see why this is any different, and I suggest that the " / grey" addition be removed, in accordance with those policies. Altendo 09:59, October 8, 2025 (EDT)

as someone who isn't a native English speaker, i constantly forget which one is the American spelling and which one is the Commonwealth one. having a built-in failsafe for it is good, and removing it could break previous revisions that use the "e" spelling. — eviemaybe Tanooki Mario's tail, cropped (talk) 10:14, October 8, 2025 (EDT)
I think "favor American English"'s job is really to smooth out the reading experience. Since the template and proposal archival as a whole aren't for readers, it's fine to allow people to type grey here. Salmancer (talk) 10:50, October 8, 2025 (EDT)

I believe "vetoed by administrators" was originally called "cancelled by administrators". Now, shouldn't the text in the meaning of the purple key change along with it? I also suggested a color change here. Black Yoshi from Mario Kart Tour Yoshi18 (talk/contribs) 10:33, July 31, 2026 (UTC)
