- According to former Sega localization producer Ryoichi Hasegawa, Nintendo insisted on Mario's foot being one step ahead of Sonic's in the box art for Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games for the Wii (pictured) and its Nintendo DS version.
- Super Mario Bros. was among the first inductees into the inaugural class of the World Video Game Hall of Fame in 2015.
- A concept render for the Nintendo Super Star Store uses Luigi's model from the Luigi minigames in Super Mario 64 DS and the Table minigames in New Super Mario Bros.
- The distributor WildBrain used artificial intelligence to upscale episodes of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! airing on MeTV Toons. Following the backlash, WildBrain clarified its use of technology in the restorations.
