Types of vegetable

Per the Grifty and Podley proposals (and the currently ongoing Captain Skurvy proposa) would it not be more appropriate to remove the vegetable labels off the gallery? Sure, some of them (like the garlic one) are pretty obvious, but others are assumptions, especially considering the tomato and pumpkin were incorrectly referred to as "Onion" and "Radish" respectively. -- FanOfYoshi at 08:37, July 3, 2024 (EDT)

Well I mean, those aren't root vegetables, and the article lists them all in the prose as being root vegetables (also "pepper" is a more obvious assumption than "pumpkin"). Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 09:52, July 3, 2024 (EDT)

This is certainly an understandable proposal, especially given the more general efforts on the site to prevent another Mario Encyclopedia debacle. Personally, I have always valued the conjectural names for their ability to make it easier to identify which vegetables appear in which worlds. However, if it cannot, I believe the names should be kept, as placeholders at the very least. The apparent obscurity of this discussion suggests that it is not likely to be definitively resolved any time soon, and the names have sufficed for nearly a year since the issue was first raised, so I would side with retaining them long-term unless the issue is raised a second time. Well, I'm a user of my word. The issue has been raised a second time. Should I replace the speculative vegetable names with something more general like 'Unripe Vegetable (Worlds 1, 3, & 5)', 'Vegetable (Worlds 1, 3, & 5)', etc, or was there an alternative wording you were thinking of? Unless I'm misinterpreting, I take that as a yes on replacing the vegetable names with something more general (except for the Turnip's, which is the only one explicitly verified), so I will go ahead and make the necessary changes to both the gallery and the description.
