Should Merlight and Merloo be moved to List of Implied Characters since only images of them are seen? Hello, I'm Time Turner.

While essentially implied, their nature and role to the backstory of the game seems to merit actual articles. I would support merging the four together under the Tribe of Ancients article, since it's already there and their only being implied means there shouldn't be an issue with them sharing an article over having individual ones. It's also the best place to arrange the images. Redstar 15:45, 20 December 2009 (EST)
Agreed. Hello, I'm Time Turner.
So should I go ahead and move them over, or would this require a proposal? Redstar 15:50, 20 December 2009 (EST)
Nah, you don't need a proposal. Hello, I'm Time Turner.
You can move them over, if you like. - Gabumon from the Digimon franchise Gabumon(talk) 15:55, 20 December 2009 (EST)
Done. Feel free to merge this discussion to the grouped-article's discussion page, and delete it here for archiving purposes. Redstar 16:28, 20 December 2009 (EST)

Light Prognosticus Author[edit]

Merlon says in the game that Merlumina wrote the Light Prognosticus, so Merloo couldn't have. BowserTime

I just added a sentence to the article stating that. The problem is that Tippi says that Merloo did, so there is some ambiguity concerning who the actual author is. Mario4Ever (talk)
I'm aware this is a very, very old discussion, but does the Japanese script say anything different about who wrote the Light Prognosticus? It feels like this dual-authorship discrepancy might've been the result of a localisation oversight. 108.208.40.205 04:54, November 23, 2025 (EST)
As in English, the Japanese script has Merlon credit Merlumina with the writing of the Light Prognosticus, as well as creating the town and leading the Tribe of Ancients in general as the wisest of the Sages, with her Catch Card also saying she created the Pure Heart(s). Merloo's JPN window text also describes him writing the Light Prognosticus and also being able to see the future which lends even more credence to it. Aside from that, all Sage window attributions are pretty much the same. I would be inclined to take this as all of these statements being true, with Merlumina essentially being the project director who contributed to all of the other Sages' projects. Either way, a localization confusion can be pretty firmly ruled out. Drake Inferno (talk)
Localization confusion seems to be the cause of all of this, as explained in Disable's video going over text differences between the North American and European English versions. Merlon's dialog mentioning who wrote the Light Prognosticus after clearing chapter 1 was changed. Merlon in NA English when talking about Merlumina: "She was the one who wrote the Light Prognosticus to counteract the dark one...". But Merlon in EU English says this when talking about Merlumina: "She was a great leader and was revered as the wisest of the ancient sages.", which is consistent with the tattle of Merlumina's stained-glass window in the Mirror Hall. Tippi's tattle of Merloo's stained-glass window remains as the only source for the Light Prognosticus author in EU English: "This sage was very wise and is even said to have written the Light Prognosticus...".
I'm re-adding the {{talk}} template because the wiki now has to deal with these text differences, update articles, and tell readers about these text differences with something like citations. The Dialogue Tree website has the English text with a section to view NA/EU English differences that will help with this process. --Spencer PK (talk) 16:13, April 20, 2026 (UTC)
