Would the floor with poison needles need to be split off from Spike Trap in the first place? Outside of the poison specification, they seem to be pretty much the same thing (given that most Spike Traps are just spiky floors; they don't look all that different either compared to similar obstacles such as Thorns), to the point that poison needles from Mario Land 1 are ALSO covered on the Spike Trap article.

- My personal perspective is that Super Mario Land was developed by a junior team from EAD at Nintendo R&D1, and they decided to interpret things a bit differently and create their own conceptual analogs to the things found in the EAD games, similar to Goombo and Goomba. I personally think it’s more accurate to SML and the choices they made to recognize them as distinct. The inclination to do so for poison needles and Spike Floors, rather than Goomba and Goombo, may be rooted in a tradition on this wiki that liberally lumps objects and not enemies or other characters even if otherwise identical. - Nintendo101 (talk) 18:43, December 3, 2025 (EST)
