Merge to Mega Mushroom?[edit]
The name of this always seemed odd to me given the attack item itself is clearly a Mega Mushroom, and looking at the language-of-origin, that was indeed the intent; this is the same situation as the Green Shell, Red Shell, Fire Flower, and Ice Flower, none of which we split from the item the attack uses. - maybe we should be asking whether we should split the others, rather than merge this. besides, this is not just "Mega Mushroom", it's a move that utilizes it. — eviemaybe

- Yeah, I also do not think merging this should be done. Mega Thwonk is an entire Bros. Attack that has Action Commands, unique visuals, a minigame version, and details like the initial hit being hammer-type and later hits being jump-type. I feel that a merge into Mega Mushroom would be confusing to readers and would require the wiki to explain Mega Thwonk is merged just because of the Japanese name. The Bros. Attacks (like Green Shell and Fire Flower) should be looked into more with the idea of splitting them out of large recurring subject articles, not merged into them. That is an entire other topic that would require a good system to ensure a split would work well and keep wiki navigation in a good state. --Spencer PK (talk) 04:39, March 15, 2026 (UTC)
