Considering how Fire Breath covers both the Smash Bros. move and general instances of Bowser doing similar things, should this page be expanded to include other times Bowser has done a claw swipe attack? Since this seems to be based on Bowser's scratch attack from Super Mario 64. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 02:45, October 3, 2024 (EDT)

Would that mean using Template:Part conjecture? Hewer (talk · contributions · edit count) 06:57, October 4, 2024 (EDT)
Well I mean, we don't for "Bowser Breath." Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 13:16, October 4, 2024 (EDT)
i would be okay with mentioning that bowser uses claw attacks sometimes, but claiming every instance of bowser using his claws being actually Koopa Klaw, the move from Smash feels very presumptuous. — eviemaybe Tanooki Mario's tail, cropped (talk) 21:54, April 11, 2025 (EDT)
I don't really see any further issue than claiming Bowser's usual fire-breathing is the same as "Koopa Breath," personally. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:25, April 11, 2025 (EDT)
perhaps "Fire Breath (Super Smash Bros. series)" should be split from Fire Breath, then? — eviemaybe Tanooki Mario's tail, cropped (talk) 02:02, February 13, 2026 (UTC)
That would be more consistent, but why should Smash Bros. moves directly based on home series moves be treated as distinct from the aforementioned moves they are based on? I wouldn't expect a Zelda wiki to split the Smash Bros. version of Link's Spin Attack, which actually has the added attribute of gaining altitude, and I wouldn't expect a Pokemon wiki to split the Smash Bros. versions of the standard Pokemon moves. Same goes for this sort of thing. The only things these have that those don't is that oftentimes the enemy ones aren't explicitly named in-series for Mario-adjacent games. that's a good argument, but i still don't think we should consider any claw-based attack by bowser to be Koopa Klaw or any spinning-shell attack to be Whirling Fortress. — eviemaybe Tanooki Mario's tail, cropped (talk) 22:25, February 14, 2026 (UTC)
