Internal filename[edit]

So, if i understand, in a same case for Giant Raven's case, the reason of the {{another language}} template is that it's a romanization of コガサゴソ, right? (though the Big Kyutyan thing hasn't the another language template). --Ski Yoshi FanOfYoshi A Dr. Freezegood at 12:08, 23 December 2018 (EST)

We don't have a hard-and-fast rule on internal cases now, but I thought it was appropriate to mark it as such because it is a total Japanese romanization (Big Kyutyan and Slave Basa at least borrow English words). If we rule that all official romanizations count as English titles, it would aid in our efforts to reduce the articles with titles from other languages category. Three sizes of Scuttle Bug appear in Mario Party 7's Spider Stomp minigame, and the wiki pegs the largest of the three as a Big Scuttlebug, so maybe chalk up the smallest as this thing? LinkTheLefty (talk) 12:52, October 3, 2025 (EDT)

Uh uh. The article says the first Scuttle Bugs in that mini game are normal-sized ones. PrincessPeachFan (talk) 08:50, October 8, 2025 (EDT)
They don't appear outside of the minigame, so there isn't much of a frame of reference. LinkTheLefty (talk) 10:29, October 8, 2025 (EDT)
Pray tell, are the Scuttle Bugs in Spider Stomp named anything specific by the file names or Japanese names? PrincessPeachFan (talk) 19:46, October 8, 2025 (EDT)
Not in the file names. m775.bin is the archive file containing assets for the Spider Stomp minigame. The files pertaining to the Scuttlebug models are named MESH_m77523.z.hsf, MESH_m77524.z.hsf, and MESH_m77525.z.hsf. File MESH_m77526.z.hsf does not contain a mesh, but has a texture of a red and X eyes, likely used for the final large enemy of the minigame, which has blinking red eyes to indicate how close it is to defeat and the X eyes showing defeat.
Looking at just the models, the first two are identical files, even while accounting for scale (which scale is probably handled in another file; I looked at animations and there's basically a set of animations, from MOTION_m77528.lz.hsf to MOTION_m77531.lz.hsf that applies to the first two sets), while the third one MESH_m77525.z.hsf has a higher polycount. I assume the first two files are edited from the third one, with polycounts reduced in response to the smaller sizes, which is part of the process of making it easier to load the models; finer details on a mesh are less noticeable on smaller models, so it makes sense to reduce the polycount. From a modeling workflow it's better to work from high-poly to low-poly.
Note these files were taken from a NTSC-U ROM (or I guess GP7E01).
Anyway I guess this page can have a small reference to how there are differently scaled Scuttle Bugs from Mario Party 7 as a bullet point but for all intents and purposes they're just Scuttlebug enemies. Agreed. PrincessPeachFan (talk) 08:56, October 10, 2025 (EDT)
