Move?

This is continuation of a discussion that started here. Basically, I requested the Cheep Cheep Lagoon (Mario Golf: World Tour theme) redirect to be deleted, as conjecturally named musical theme articles and redirects aren't allowed, but @Xiahou Ba, The Nasty Warrior argued that it should stay, as in his own words, it is "plausible that someone here is going to search [that] up". After a long argument in that same talk page and him putting his foot down, I asked him if this article should be moved to Cheep Cheep Lagoon (Mario Kart 7 theme) to distinguish the two, to which he said yes, as in his own words, "Waluigi Pinball (theme) also has this issue because there is a distinct Mario Sports Mix version of it." However, as I told him afterward, the Waluigi Pinball theme from Mario Kart DS is currently the only musical theme that is officially called "Waluigi Pinball", and per MarioWiki:Article naming#Musical theme titles, only officially named musical themes and/or recurring musical themes are allowed articles, so adding "Mario Kart DS" to the identifier of Waluigi Pinball (theme) isn't necessary at the moment due to there being no other musical themes that officially share that name, and the Waluigi Pinball theme from Mario Sports Mix isn't allowed to have an article yet due to neither being recurring nor having an official name. And instead of continuing the discussion there, Xiahou Ba removed the {{talk}} template and said to "bring this up somewhere else", which is what I'm doing now.

So what do we think? Should this article and Waluigi Pinball (theme) be moved to Cheep Cheep Lagoon (Mario Kart 7 theme) and Waluigi Pinball (Mario Kart DS theme) respectively or not? Wilben (talk • edits) 05:08, September 30, 2026 (UTC)

No, I absolutely do not think they should be moved. As stated by you, moving them to these names directly contradicts our naming policy. Not to mention, in his own words, it's "plausible". Not likely, just plausible, which opens a whole other can of worms. But, staying on topic; there is only one theme with an article, or even eligible for an article for that matter, under these names. There's no reason to over complicate and bloat the identifier when we don't need to. Especially when, likelihood is, even if we did move it, this page would just be turned into a redirect to the new location anyway, because these are, again, the only themes with these names with an article or eligible for one. Not sure about moving this page on its own, but the redirect is going to be staying. The policy of prohibiting conjectural redirects for "non-recurring themes" is no longer applicable. ~Camwoodstock ( talk ☯ contribs ) 18:06, September 30, 2026 (UTC)

Indeed. Part of the reason that entire conversation took place was because some members of staff noticed that there were pages that were either almost, or actually, feature-complete, yet were being arbitrarily withheld for the sake of an official name that may never come in some cases. ~Camwoodstock ( talk ☯ contribs ) 20:28, September 30, 2026 (UTC)
