First appearance

So... would this technically count as Cappy's first appearance? If we're going to list it as such, I feel like we should also include Mario Odyssey under "first appearance" as well, since that is intended to mark Cappy's actual debut. Also, it'd be odd to list Mario Run and not Mario Odyssey in the infobox (since the game hasn't come out yet), especially since many users are going to come forward and add it as its latest appearance anyway. Interesting scenario! Once Odyssey is released, a "List of appearances by date" table would most certainly list the Run appearance first. It's difficult to determine the best way to handle the infobox appearance while still upholding the upcoming games policy. Since we do record cameos as an infobox-worthy appearance, I think we should just have:

First appearance: Super Mario Run (statue cameo) (2016)

With a <!-- Please do NOT change to Super Mario Odyssey until the game is released. --> within the code (so that anyone who does change it would have to be really cheeky). And then once the game is released, Cappy's first true appearance can replace Super Mario Run.

Well, since we do include cameos in infoboxes, then I don't think Mario Odyssey needs to replace Mario Run as "first appearance", and should just be listed under "latest appearance" when it's released. Mario JC 02:30, 16 June 2017 (EDT)
