What are the Yoshi's Story and Color Splash buckets doing here?[edit]

The buckets, as they appear in Yoshi's Story and Paper Mario: Color Splash, work entirely different compared to the ones from the Yoshi's Island games this article is supposed to be about. In Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, as well as Yoshi's Island DS and Yoshi's New Island, buckets (or ? Buckets) hang on walls in fortress levels, always bearing a question mark symbol, and often made of metal. Yoshi can hit these with an egg to flip them upside down, in order to release its contents (usually coins, but sometimes bombs as well). The ones from Story and Color Splash are large, wooden basin-like objects that are essentially rafts to cross a body of water (or poison water) with. Why is a raft-type bucket listed on the same page as this very specific item container-type bucket? Has it been indiscriminately been added here just because it's from a Yoshi platformer, too? Shouldn't it be kept on the regular bucket page, or even be split into its own article?. ArendLogoTransparent.pngrend (talk) (edits) 03:05, October 14, 2026 (UTC)

Also of note is that the official Player's Guide for Yoshi's Story never actually calls these things "bucket" to begin with. It instead has called them "tub" (which at least matches with the Japanese name of タライ, Tarai), or "(wooden) boat" (on about three occasions at least). Also, given that the Japanese name for the Color Splash bucket is オケ (oke; which actually does translate to "bucket" when written in kanji or hiragana), it's also possible for that to be merged back into the main Bucket article, whereas the tub from Yoshi's Story gets its own article. Alternatively, both could get their own article. ArendLogoTransparent.pngrend (talk) (edits) 09:13, October 14, 2026 (UTC)
