Talk:Big Frame Boo
Merge?[edit]
While this seems stupid, should we merge? It doesn't seem to be distinguished, nor mentionned in the theater. --

- It's short and is basically the same except its size.

- If this enemy results in Frame Boo being unlocked in Scrapbook Theater, then yes; otherwise, I'd say no. LinkTheLefty (talk) 14:43, August 30, 2020 (EDT)
- All right, since this metric seems somewhat impractical (since you need to egg a regular Frame Boo in normal gameplay), I'll say that I changed my mind; in Yoshi's Island DS, Boo and Big Boo share the same entry in the Island Museum, meaning you can egg either one of them to get both. - The official Japanese Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World guide seems to regard big Frame Boos the same as regular Frame Boos. Like, on Page 203, at point where they show an image of two big Frame Boos, they just just call them "Frame Teresa" in the accompanying text: 番号の位置にフレームテレサが来たら毛 糸玉を当てよう。4回目は先にビックリスイッチを押すこと。

Merge to Frame Boo[edit]
| This talk page proposal has already been settled. Please do not edit this section or its subsections. If you wish to discuss the article, please do so in a new section below the proposal. |
merge 8-0
To give a quick run-down of the above conversation here:
- Big Frame Boos are never called that. The name's wholly conjectural.
- It's so not what they're called, that in a guidebook, when discussing the Big Frame Boos, they're just called "Frame Boos" anyways.
- No unique appearance in the Scrapbook Theater (effectively, the in-game bestiary) whatsoever.
- Functionally, these guys are wholly identical, just with a larger hitbox. Larger enemies are a known Mario Thing, but in this case it feels more like it's just a trait of the enemy that it comes in multiple sizes, rather than suggesting some entirely separate entity.
And, for our own points, the current page we do have is basically just a shorter version of the Frame Boo page as it stands, but with a different infobox image... And, just look at it.
...Except those captions are lying, and it's the other way around. Could you even tell without checking the file name? In the absence of any of the usual reasons to split larger enemies (no unique mechanics aside from the larger size, no name, no disambiguation in the in-game enemy list, no disambiguation in an official guide book, no distinguishing traits of any sort aside from size), we feel like a merge might just be easier for the sake of organization.

Keep Split / Status Quo[edit]
Comments (we've been framed!)[edit]
I think the existence of this article largely stems from how we treat the Boo sizes in the Yoshi's Island games in general, as the Frame Boos are clearly inspired by those. On the wiki, small Boos and big Boos are treated as two distinct entities, Boo and Big Boo respectively, but this distinction treatment is only reflected in the Player's Guide for Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, and both Shogakukan and Kadokawa guides for Yoshi's New Island. Everything else I'm aware of, including the Shogakukan guide for SMW2 Yoshi's Island, just calls both sizes "Boo" or "テレサ" Teresa (other than that, the Shogakukan guide for Yoshi's Island DS uses "テレサ/大&小" (Teresa / Dai & Ko)). Even the Yoshi's Island DS Island Museum lumps both sizes of Boo in the same exhibit room.

- Are the Frame Boo sizes about the same as the "small Boo" and "medium Boo" that are used in said Yoshi games? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 01:28, March 25, 2026 (UTC)
- Judging by the YWW footage, both Frame Boo sizes seem to be a fair bit larger (e.g. the small Frame Boo is about the same size as Yoshi, whereas the small Boo in SMW2YI and YIDS is about half of Yoshi's size, and the one in YNI is only slightly larger than that); however, since there are still only two sizes of Frame Boo (much like in the Yoshi's Island games), and the Kadokawa guides still call either of them "Frame Teresa" regardless of size, I still feel like the Frame Boos are being inspired by the Yoshi's Island games. Additionally, Frame Boos can only be hit by Yarn Balls if Yoshi is not facing them, much like how Boos in Yoshi's Island can only be hit by Eggs if Yoshi doesn't face them.

- Hm, it does seem in practice they are the same size as the NSMBW-onward Big Boos.... Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 22:50, March 25, 2026 (UTC)
