"Suspense Series" is a broadcast spanning twelve installments that aired as part of Shitamachi Ninjō Gekijō.
Plot synopsisEdit
Part 1Edit
The broadcast starts as Mario orders Toad to kill a person with a butter knife in a dark forest. The person escapes and Mario chastizes Toad. The victim, revealed to be Bowser, meets a police officer to report the crime. The officer finds an item that Toad dropped (the Satellaview's BS-X cartridge) and Bowser speculates that it may indicate the killer is a fashion model, although the policeman is unconvinced. Bowser then finds the butter knife and speculates that the culprit may be a performer, but the police officer is again unsure.
Part 4Edit
Mario and Toad are on the run from the police after killing a woman's lover. Toad says they should give up and surrender to the police, but Mario responds their life is over if they surrender. Toad complains "he can't do it anymore" and gets an erection. Mario punches Toad out of his stupor and they start arguing over who is the real murderer. Eventually, Bowser knocks at the door of their hiding place and orders them to follow him to the police.
The episode was originally broadcast on September 18–24, 1995 and was rerun on September 25–October 1, 1995 for "interview reasons".[2]
Part 10Edit
In this broadcast, Mario and Toad are in jail for a stay of about 20 years. Toad, who is 15 years old, is nervous about staying for 20 years since this will cause them to be 35 by their 2015 release. Mario decides to break out of prison and pulls a spoon out of his rear end, which smells like feces. However, the floor is made of concrete, so Mario tells Toad to dig with his hands, much to the latter's despair.
Part 11Edit
Mario pulls a drill from his scrotum, and breaks through the concrete with the drill. Toad is initially excited about escaping the jail, but gets worried as they are taking a long time to dig outside of jail. Mario explains that he will keep digging until they reach daylight. As they eventually make it outside of the jail, they find out that they have ended up in Rio de Janeiro during its Carnival. Toad is worried as he does not know anything about Brazil, but Mario is happy to relax there.
Part 12Edit
Toad complains that it is hot, and Mario notes that Toad is sunburned. Toad says that they do not have any money and he is dying of thirst, to which Mario responds by punching him while calling him an idiot and telling him to not be weak. Mario then asks Toad what Mario's job is, and Toad answers with "trendy actor" before being kicked in the head for being wrong. Mario says that he is a plumber, and that they are going to do plumbing work to earn money to go back to Japan, with the next panels showing Mario and Toad building a pipeline. The final panel shows confetti raining down on Mario as the narrator mentions that he and Toad completed a pipeline for Brazil.
