"Selection Screen"[1] is a musical theme composed by Hirokazu Tanaka for Dr. Mario, where it plays when adjusting the difficulty.

Dr. Mario[edit]

Dr. Mario marks the first appearance of "Selection Screen," and is also present in the Classic NES Series port. It is also included in the official album Famicom Sound History Series: Mario the Music, where it is titled 「セレクト」 (Serekuto, "Select").

The Game Boy version of Dr. Mario contains its own arrangement of "Selection Screen" that plays for the same purpose as in the NES version. It is likewise titled "Selection Screen" in the Nintendo Music app.
